After completing her primary school in a space of five years Maud Chifamba became the first student at Hurudza Primary School to attain 4 units.
Her journey of academic excellence continued by breaking a record of becoming the youngest student to be enrolled at a university in the country and Southern Africa at large.

Recently the country’s whizkid was among 3 451 graduates at University of Zimbabwe as she set another record of becoming the youngest accountant in the country. Remembering her humble beginnings, Maud Chifamba organized a fundraising dinner to raise funds for developing Hurudza and Chiurai Primary schools at Meikles Hotel on the 28th of November 2016.

Appealing for assistance Maud Chifamba said “Nelson Mandela once exclaimed, “the only way to change the world is by educating people”.

“And I know how education can change lives first hand.  I am pained when I think of people who never have the chance to go for their dreams because of lack of a proper schools.

The absence of a proper school has a crippling effect on a society, with consequences that reach across generations e.g circle of poverty; child marriages and a hell lot more.

Its time someone breaks the circle. Let’s join hands and change some youngsters’ lives.” The dinner will be co-hosted by the most renowned MC’s -Candice Mwakalyelye, Ruvheneko Parirenyatwa and McPhill.

Alexio and Tariro NeGitare will provide entertainment for the guests. A ticket for an individual is going for $50 and for the cooperates its $500,$800 and $1000 with different packages.

The schools are situated 18 km away from KweKwe town at the Shawlands villages. Hurudza primary school only has pole and iron sheets infrastructure that is one classroom for over 70 students of different levels or grades.

They squat during lessons as there is insufficient furniture and two different grades or levels share the same space.

“Whenever I go to Hurudza, or think about them, my heart bleeds. I see a lot of potential, I know a lot of potential being lost, hopes being shuttered and dreams being strangled all because of lack of opportunity” she said explaining how she feel every time she visits her former school.

Apart from having great achievements and accolades on her back she is still pursuing happiness by developing a place which made her a big name in Africa.

Appreciating those who are and will support her vision she left a remark saying “I know it’s not easy to support and trust a 19-year-old with seemingly unrealistic and unattainable dreams. But I want to salute those pouring in their support from all over.

It is people like them that Zimbabwe needs. I appreciate them, but the more appreciation comes from the children whose lives they’re changing for a lifetime.

Heartfelt thank you, and may god bless”.
