Because you deserve the best Sunday Mail

The Sunday Mail

To the intelligent student reading this who either reads the Sunday Mail Bridge regularly, has been referred to it or has merely stumbled upon it . . .
O’ level, A’ level, Z.I.M.S.E.C or Cambridge, Mr Examination has been knocking on your door, that is if he has not entered already. Tagged along with him is the ignition of fear and the blaze of doubt set in many of our young hearts.
As they stand there, they block the doorway for the dominance of the adrenaline to become immortal legends. This adrenaline induces an instinct to fight and co-ordinates the entire nervous system for the massacre of the imminent exams. For those whose minds have long ripened, a desire itches irritatingly in them to put their school on the pedestal when the results are published once more – and they will be.
The anthem has begun, its notes echo that there is no time to play for any of us and calls each of us to be serious with our studies. Headmasters have assumed the profession of motivational speakers. The paparazzi of teachers, not too far behind, zooms in on our actions to build up first hand testimonies of why so as to be perfectly accountable for the sweet success of others and the bitter failure of the remnant.
It’s no secret that there are some students bleeding inside because of the far-from-constructive criticism which relentlessly cascades from spiteful teachers. Some indolent student is still stagnant on his unsatisfactory performance from last year, what a pity.
Revision itself does not seem to be the pill to eradicate the epidemic of failure. Is there hope? For us all or should we fall into the deep gorge of despair?
Yes, there is hope… even for she or he who has a depleted self-esteem. You and I have no right to believe we are incapable Because Zimbabwe’s’ beautiful blood spilt over the fields in the days of Chaminuka to give us, you and I, the future of the country, a chance to further develop the land where our ancestors lie.
They wished for the pregnant clouds that never came, they were drudged murmurless and our mothers survived with knobbly hands because then the luxury we have now was a meagre thought.
2008 came, the peasant had only to cope with prices that shift like the waves that rock the ship of the seas, Thin dogs wandered like dirt and litter, but here we are, given the chance to climb the ladder to elevate Zimbabwe and give happiness to Mothers who work and laugh during the day but cry and pray during the night.
Should we all look for easy chances of self upliftment, cut corners or undeserved promotion depriving ourselves the ecstatic feeling of achievement? No… we have enough, the textbooks that some do not utilize, the teachers who are the best in the province.
Now we ride even in Mercs to school.
Let us only have fearful hearts that crave to build the nation. The Simmering sun has no power to cripple. The more you read, the greater understanding of words you receive…Talk no more, listen to nobody’s talk, wait no more but lead yourself to the goal and attain only excellence…

Because you deserve the best…..And you are, the future of Zimbabwe.
