Trip to the mighty Vic Falls

The Sunday Mail

Nomonde Bhebhe, Form 1 : Littlerock International School

THE journey started at Littlerock International School premises at 9am on a Tuesday. We were whisked to the airport by Rockshade Travel company in their spaciously luxurious 42 seater coach with dual climate control. We were seated in the most comfortable manner as we were only 20 students and 2 teachers but due to the irresistible beauty of our coach some parents opted to ride along and escort us to the Harare International Airport.

We arrived at the airport a few mins before our check in time as we faced a few difficulties trying to manoeuvre Harare traffic.

Mr James quickly did the check in business and in no time we were awarded our boarding passes to the excitement of everybody.

We boarded our Fastjet airplane at around 11am and had a pleasant flight for 1 hour. Upon arrival at Vic Falls we were picked up by LED Tours who took us to Livingstone lodge where we rested and had our lunch and left for Crocodile farm at 3pm.

Next day we had an early breakfast and left for a tour of the main falls where we spent most of our day walking and sightseeing. We also had the opportunity to walk on the main bridge and catch a glimpse of Zambia from where they carry out the Bungee jump. There were a lot of tourists in Vic Falls so we saw too many people there from different countries and nationalities. On our last day we went to Elephants walk and saw elephants and a crocodile cage dive which sadly our teachers refused for us to try out.

We boarded our return flight very late such that we arrived in Harare in the evening and it was a joy seeing the lights from the sky save for the areas experiencing load shedding. We were received by our anxious parents as our team comprised of grade 1’s all the way to lower 6.We are so thankful to the staff and management at Littlerock International School for giving us the opportunity of exploring the magnificent and marvellous Victoria Falls.
