GOSPEL musician Takesure Zamah’s former backing vocalist — Eliot Makuyana — has ventured on a solo project and has already released an eight track album.

The album titled “Mune Nyasha” was released last year with the track “Nyasha” finding itself on the Star Fm Gospel Greats programme.

The track has been on Star FM Gospel Greats for the past six months. The 26 year-old artiste said he is happy that his song has survived for such a long time on the charts.

“Even in my dreams, I never imagined it. I am delighted that my mission is being accomplished. I did not venture into music for the love of money, but to win souls for the kingdom of God.”

However, last week the track registered the biggest drop from position nine to 17.

The Banket based musician’s album carries praise and worship songs that include “Mutsvene”, “Handineti Kunamata”, “Nyasha”, “Mufudzi wakanaka”, “Moyo wangu”, “Mune rudo”, “Mukombe wangu wopfachuka” and “Murume anonzi Jesu”.

“As a teenager, I developed a keen interest in music and through the inspiration of the Word of God and encouragement from my mother, I managed to compose songs and record this album. “God always has solutions even before problems happen and we should all trust in Him, that is the message I am conveying with this album,” Makuyana said.

A holder of a Social Science Degree in Peace and Governance from Bindura University of Science Education, Makuyana said he never envisioned pursuing music professionally.

“I knew I liked music but I never thought God would take me this far. It only started when I was a member of Bindura University praise and worship team when Worship Addicts conducted auditions.

“I was auditioned and within two weeks I became Zamah’s backing vocalist. However, due to academic commitments, I didn’t manage to stay with the group for a long time,” he said. After university, Ian Ngwenya and Tawanda Midzi of Insounds Studios offered him a contract and he managed to record his first album. “My vision is to remain relevant in the industry. Currently I am working on my new project,” he said.

A video for the song “Nyasha” is also on the cards.
