Maporisa said her acceptance of the Outstanding Learner Award should serve as an inspiration to other girls so that they can also compete with men academically.

Flanked by her family at the occasion, an elated Maporisa was exuberant for attaining a crème de la crème academic excellence status in Zimbabwe and attributed her success to hard work, persistence, determination and focus.

“Samantha Maporisa is a brand. I encourage hard work, determination, persistence and perseverance. My family and lecturers were my source of encouragement in these turbulent times,” said Maporisa.

CCOSA Principal, Mr Tichaona Zinhumwe remarked that Maporisa is among a bandwagon of academically gifted students who have been produced by the college in various disciplines and it is no coincidence that she defied odds.

“CCOSA remains a flagship in the Zimbabwe academia by producing top notch graduates for industry and commerce in Zimbabwe. Prior and after independence we have established ourselves as a centerpiece in manpower development in fields of business, commerce, IT and church ministry.

“Maporisa is one of our many products who have excelled nationally and internationally, receiving accolades in the process. We are proud that she has put us on the global map by becoming the second best student in Zimbabwe. She is a testimony of how CCOSA continues to be a flag bearer of higher education in this country,” said Mr Zinhumwe.

CCOSA’s Faculty of Business head Mr Crispen Nyanga paid tribute to staff members for maintaining dedication that thrives for quality results.

“It really shows we are a top of the notch college in terms of results. We give credit to lecturers who are the educational compass for students,” remarked Mr Nyanga.

LCCI Marketing Manager, Jonathan Mkwena praised CCOSA for having one of the longest serving partnerships and attributed Maporisa’s success to her diligence as well as CCOSA’s pedigree.

“We have worked with CCOSA for many years. Maporisa has done her due diligence in studying, it’s more representative of the hard work she has done, including tutors and the family. This is an outstanding achievement not only for Samantha but the nation as well,” said Mr Mkwena.
