ENACTUS Zimbabwe competition preparations are underway as the 11 participating teams from local universities are working on their respective projects.
The Boost Fellowship organisation an affiliate of ENACTUS World released a date of the competition which is 14 July at the Celebration Centre in Harare. ENACTUS an acronym for Entrepreneurial Action for others creates a better world for us all.
It is a community of student, academic and business leaders committed to using power of entrepreneurial action to transform lives and shape a better and more sustainable world.
Competing to transform lives in a competition where they are all winners, students present various projects which address the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) as stated by the United Nations.
The Director of the Boost Fellowship Busisiwe Marandure highlighted about this year’s ENACTUS National competitions and the adjustments made from the previous competition. “This year’s ENACTUS competitions across the world are running under the hashtag #WeAllWin. National competitions will be held at the Celebration Centre on the 14th of July and the panel of judges will be the top executives of different local organisations like any other years before.
ZEGU is the latest university to join the competition to add up to the eleven teams which were already taking part in the same competition.
The winners will represent Zimbabwe at ENACTUS world cup which will be hosted by London, England in September.
“This year Enactus organisation launched their two new initiatives that is 1 Race 2 End Waste and Water race. These two races aim to tackle the food waste and water crisis through entrepreneurial action.
“ENACTUS added two more initiatives which are 1 Race 2 End Waste and Water race. These races have increased the chances for teams to represent Zimbabwe in London as well on the same date with the traditional ENACTUS competition,” added Marandure.
Last year Chinhoyi University of Technology represented Zimbabwe at the World Cup in Toronto, Canada after ending the dominance of the University of Zimbabwe. Chinhoyi University of Technology lost in the Semifinals. As they build opportunities on students talent, BOOST aims to be the leading international youth fellowship promoting youth productivity through economic empowerment and social development.
“The program has installed positive social mindset in the students and gave them a chance to lead and embark on developmental projects across many societies in Zimbabwe.
“This has been a platform to celebrate the success we have made as students during the year, in dynamic presentations, where we get to be judged by top business executives on the projects carried out” said NUST ENACTUS team President Natasha Aliki.
