THE Sunday Mail Bride of the Year Gala on April 2 at Harare International Conference Centre is set to be an explosive affair with a line-up of top notch performers.

The bridal event will see the crowning of The Sunday Mail Bride and Cake of 2015, which will be followed by a musical extravaganza.

Organisers of the event have left nothing to chance in terms of entertaining those in attendance as they have enlisted the services of the legendary Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi, hit-maker Jah Prayzah and man-of-the-moment Winky D, who are going to treat fans with signature solid performances.

The three acts are by far the best performers in the country and they have been known to rise to the occasion every time they take to the stage.

There is no doubt that Winky D and Jah Prayzah are the talk of town when it comes to high-tempo entertainment. Both artistes have albums that have been doing very well.

Add Tuku – the godfather of local music and among the top musicians in Africa – to the equation, and it is guaranteed that attendees will get their money’s worth.

But before the big guns take to the stage, dance genius David Machowa and his group Apama Styles, as well as children from Chipawo, will handle business.

Performers from Chipawo, who mesmerised the audience at the recently held National Arts Merit Awards, bring their act to the bridal stage before the main acts turn up the heat in what promises to be a memorable night.

Prior to the Bridal Gala, The Sunday Mail Bridal Expo will take centre stage on April 1 and 2 at Rainbow Towers Gardens.

Entry for the Expo is free while US$10 will be charged to get into the Gala.

The Expo is the perfect platform for companies and individuals who provide bridal services to showcase what they have to offer to the multitudes who usually throng the annual show-piece.

Garikai Mazara, one of the organisers, said: “If you look at the line-up you can see that there is a balance which is going to make this a tight family show. Previous editions have been very successful and this time we are going to take it a gear up.”

The prize-giving ceremony starts at 6pm and will run up to 8pm, after which the music extravaganza will continue until late into the night.

The cost of getting to view this spectacle is US$10.

The winning bride will walk away US$1 000 richer while the first runner-up will receive US$800. The third-placed bride wins US$600.

In the cake category, the winner, first runner-up and second-runner up will walk away with US$800, US$700 and US$600 respectively.

One lucky ticket holder will leave the venue with a free wedding voucher while one reader of The Sunday Mail – the country’s leading family and weekly newspaper – will win a 32-inch LED TV. The reader has to be in attendance.

The Sunday Mail Bride and Cake of the Year show has been at the forefront of promoting family values and celebrating marriage for years.

Last year, Rudo Madzviti-Zenda was crowned Bride of the Year while Faith Mazorodze-Mufumi took second place and Tapiwa Bepe-Matyanga grabbed the third spot.
