ZANU PF provinces have endorsed President Mnangagwa as the ruling party’s sole presidential candidate for the 2023 harmonised elections, stressing that his desire to uplift the lives of Zimbabweans had seen him achieve a lot in the last few years.

The resolutions came out at provincial inter-district meetings held yesterday in Harare, Masvingo, Mashonaland West, Mashonaland Central, Midlands, Bulawayo, Matabeleland North and Matabeleland South provinces. Manicaland and Mashonaland East are expected to hold their meetings today and carry the same resolution, which will be forwarded to the ruling party’s National People’s Conference to be held in Bindura from October 25 to October 30.

ZANU PF Harare provincial chairperson Cde Godwills Masimirembwa said President Mnangagwa’s Second Republic had exhibited exemplary servant leadership.

“Cde Mnangagwa shall be the sole ZANU PF Presidential candidate for the 2023 harmonised elections. He has presided over unprecedented socio-economic development for the whole country. There is need to ensure that the trajectory is accelerated without any interruption.”

ZANU PF secretary for health in the Politburo Dr David Parirenyatwa was the guest of honour at the Harare meeting.

At the ZANU PF provincial inter-district meeting in Gweru, ZANU PF Midlands province secretary for administration Cde Nugget Manyima said all the province’s party organs had endorsed President Mnangagwa for the 2023 plebiscite.

“Resolution number one is that Midlands Provincial endorses our President Cde Mnangagwa as our sole presidential candidate for 2023 presidential elections. Midlands province’s women’s league, the youth league, the veterans of the liberation struggle all reaffirmed their unwavering support to President Mnangagwa,” he said.

In an interview yesterday, ZANU PF Mashonaland Central district coordinating committee spokesperson Cde Kushinga Dutiro said the province had also endorsed the President.

In Mashonaland West, all the four wings unanimously made the same decision at the provincial inter-district conference in Chinhoyi.

In Bulawayo, at a meeting which was attended by Politburo member Lieutenant-General Engelbert Rugeje (Retired) as guest of honour, provincial party secretary for administration Cde Raymond Mutomba announced the same resolution.

Similarly, in Matabeleland North, ZANU PF provincial chair Cde Richard Moyo said the most important resolution to come out of the meeting was President Mnangagwa’s endorsement, as did Matabeleland South, according to acting provincial chairperson Cde Never Khanye.
