Holy Qur’aan Speaks: Why is pork forbidden in Islam (Part 3)? The abstention from eating pork is one of the steps taken by Islam to ensure physical well being, general hygiene and to attain purity of soul

(continued from last week)
PIGS do not have sweat glands or a way to cool themselves off when it is hot. Truly and realistically speaking we have to accept the fact that the meat stinks when you cook it.

Interestingly this is because pigs are unable to release body toxins (no sweat glands) and can only emit a small quantity of toxins through their feet.
So the bulk of toxins remain within the flesh.
Due to the same reason pigs will have a discharge running down their legs which is really foul and unfortunately many “special dishes” use pig feet!
It is amazing to note that chemical analysis of pig’s blood shows that it contains an abundance of uric acid, a chemical substance which can be injurious to human health.
The pig’s biochemistry excretes only two percent of its total uric acid content, the remaining 98 percent remains as an integral part of the body.
Thus, there are many harmful effects of the consumption of pork, in any form, be it pork chops, ham, bacon and so forth.
Their manure cannot even be used for gardening the way cattle and horses’ is used because it’s toxic due to the stuff they eat (and remember you’re ingesting what they eat when you eat pork products).
Faithful pork eaters will argue to the end that the reason why there were so much worm infestations in the past is because there wasn’t any adequate way to store and freeze the meat and so forth.
However, that is not the case and believe it or not, people are still contracting the disease during this day and age.
Even pig farmers who insist that corn fed or pen fed pigs are safe won’t give you a guarantee that their indoor pigs haven’t eaten any rats, mice, waste matter or maggots within the past few days or just prior to being slaughtered.
Real life testimonies
The metal doorknobs in pig nurseries, become corroded in a very short space of time due to the gases produced by the pigs urine and manure.
The same gas and pig dander that eat away metal doorknobs are harming the respiratory tracts of pig farmers.
Their unusually high incidences of respiratory ailments, from coughing and sniffles to lung scarring and pneumonia can no longer be attributed to weather and allergies alone.
Dr Rex Russell of Mayo Clinic at Rochester, Minnesota has this to say, “In the US, three of the six most common food-borne parasitic diseases of humans are associated with pork consumption.
These include toxoplasmosis, taeniases or cysticercosis (caused by the pork tapeworm Taenia solium) and trichinellosis.”
He further states that, “In Japan, the source of these infections was traced to the flesh of pigs, bears, racoons and foxes.
All of these animals are listed in Scripture as putrid or unclean.”
He goes on to conclude, “Additionally, just the handling of swine has an element of risk.
A large hog-raising facility in the area where I live wisely requires its employees to wear gloves, masks and protective clothing while working in the pig barns.
The workers are required to shower each day before going home.”
Pigs are also good incubators of toxic parasites and viruses – although the animal doesn’t appear to be ill while carrying these diseases. A scientist at the University of Giessen’s Institute for Virology in Germany showed in a study of worldwide influenza epidemics that pigs are the one animal that can serve as a mixing vessel for new influenza viruses that may seriously threaten world health.
The 1942 Yearbook of Agriculture reported that 50 diseases were found in pigs and many of these were passed on to humans by eating the pig’s flesh.
Misconceptions
In modern times there is a claim that pork is a very powerful diet, rich in protein.
Some proponents of this idea then further argue that since there is a great scarcity of protein rich food-stuffs in the world and pigs are available in abundant quantity, they should be consumed in diet to overcome the protein deficiency and food shortage.
If this argument is true, why don’t they use dog’s meat as dogs too are available in plenty?
And may even be cheaper than the pigs? Most probably they hate the mention of dog’s meat – in the same way as the Muslims shun pork!
Another wrong notion about swine-flesh is that its consumption lengthens life-span, although this is a pure myth and absurdity.
On the contrary, it is now a proven fact that people who abstain from pork and liquor, have a longer span of life than those who do not. There are numerous communities that bear testimony to this truth.
