Wedding music blamed for chickens’ death

The Sunday Mail

A traditional Indian wedding procession with pumping music, fireworks, dancing and a marching brass band in shiny jackets has been blamed for the death of 63 chickens.

Ranjit Kumar Parida said the party was blasting out “ear-splitting noise” as it passed his poultry farm in the eastern state of Odisha shortly before midnight.

“I asked the band operators to lower the volume as the music was too noisy and terrifying the chickens. But they did not listen and the groom’s friends shouted at me,” Parida told AFP.

A vet told Parida the chickens had died of a heart attack and he filed a police complaint after the wedding organisers refused to pay compensation.

Zoology professor Suryakanta Mishra, who has authored a book on animal behaviour, told the Hindustan Times that loud noise increases the risk of cardiovascular disease in birds.

“Chickens are governed by a circadian rhythm that is controlled by the natural light/dark cycle of day and night. Sudden excitement or stress due to loud music could disrupt their biological clock,” Mishra said.

The story had a happy ending — except for the chickens – after police convinced the warring parties to “solve the matter mutually”.

An emotional video showing frenzied passengers praying in tongues as their aeroplane develops a fault mid-air has gone viral.

A house that was

built upside down

A man’s house has become a tourist attraction where people visit and pay a fee just to have a look at how it was built upside down and how the interior looks.

Marek Cyran from Niagara in the United States of America said he got the idea of building his house upside down after he saw it in Poland while on vacation.

However, when he returned and suggested the idea to his community members, they only made fun of him and wrote it off thinking it was just a figment of his imagination.

In a bid to prove that the idea was possible, Marek channelled his mind, resources and efforts into making it a reality. He succeeded in putting up a one-storey building at Niagara Falls.

Desperate and dangerous attempt to travel abroad

A young boy who was desperate to travel abroad managed to hide inside the engine of an aeroplane, but the police caught him.

A video circulating online shows him descending from the aeroplane’s wings with a backpack containing his belongings.

It is unclear which airport the incident occurred, but a video shared on Instagram by Tunde Ednut shows police officers instructing the boy to come out from the flight’s engine. With a lot of hesitation, he descended into the waiting arms of the security operatives. He was fortunate to have been found out early enough before the aeroplane’s engine was ignited because he was hiding where the propeller is.

Faking own wedding

photoshoot for attention

A woman has revealed the extreme measures she went to in a bid to get her ex-boyfriend’s attention. The woman, who goes by the username @dieschaklin on TikTok, claimed that she staged her own wedding and even hired a photographer to capture the “special moments”, just to see if her ex would contact her.

“Remembering the time I faked my own wedding and had a professional photoshoot so he would reach out,” she wrote.

The woman appeared to have hired a venue — complete with stables — and even roped in someone to play the part of her “husband” for the “big day”.

She then posted the pictures to her Instagram in the hope that her old flame would see them.

In the pictures, she wore a stunning white gown and veil, which she accessorised with dainty silver jewellery and appeared to have had her makeup professionally done.

She then posed for pictures with a huge bouquet of white flowers alongside her new doting “groom”.

One snap saw the pair embraced in door frames, while another saw them standing by their wedding cake. The groom even serenaded the woman on the piano as she gazed at him lovingly in another. But, unfortunately, her elaborate plan did not work out.

“Worst part is he watched my story and still didn’t reach out,” she revealed in the caption.

Since being posted, the video has racked up more than 285 000 likes and thousands of comments from people who were both impressed and baffled by her idea.

One person said: “Why would he reach out on your wedding day?!”

Another wrote: “This has to be real; the pictures look too real.”

A third commented: “Should have done an engagement shoot. Lol. Once the wedding happens it’s too late.”

“What were you gonna say if he reached out? What was the plan bestie?” asked someone else.

A few people shared the lengths they went to get an ex’s attention as one person joked: “I faked my death,” and another said: “I did this and he actually reached out and ‘stopped the wedding’ and he asked me to marry him. All it takes is just the right amount of crazy ladies.” — Wires.
