A memorial sporting tournament for the founder of Lifelong College, Mr William Tapfumanei, was held at ZB Sports Club.

Disciplines included soccer, netball, volleyball, hockey, rugby and basketball.

The event was splendid with the only missing component being the late Mr Tapfumanei. The event had cooperation and individual rewards.

Lifelong Domboshava came first in the Cooperation Award segment although some students from Lifelong Central Business District managed to bag a few individual awards.

Momentary “animosity” between students from the two branches of the school, fuelled by a passionate rivalry to outdo each other, almost spoiled the entire event as unpleasant events took place.

However, the alert security managed to contain the situation. The event will now be held annually to celebrate Mr Tapfumanei’s legacy. The college founder was himself a sport enthusiast having played football at a professional level for Dynamos Football Club.

He started The Life Long Education institute after finding it necessary to invest in the future of children by giving them education.

Lifelong College was only located in Harare’s CBD before it branched to Domboshava.

Yours truly would have loved to indulge in the splendour of his works but I leave this for another day.
