INFLUENTIAL women drawn from leading corporates in the public and private sectors will converge for a two-day seminar, where they will share notes on human and capital management, as well as board management skills.

Organised by the Swindon Group of Trainers, the Senior Women Board Members and Chairpersons Symposium will be held in Harare from May 31 to June 1.

It will run under the theme “Efficiency and Effectiveness in Boards”.

Speakers at the event include The Sunday Mail Editor Victoria Ruzvidzo, Women’s University in Africa Vice Chancellor Professor Sunungurai Chingarande, board management training expert Ms Tidings Chimpondah and Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission Commissioner Mrs Thandiwe Mlobane.

Mr Mashudu Ravhengana from South Africa will also make presentations and share the stage with Advocate Honour Piniel Mkushi and training expert Dr Obert Mudzengi.

According to Swindon Trainers, the seminar will also provide a unique networking opportunity for senior women board members in the public and private sectors.

“This seminar is about acquiring skills, attitudes and knowledge that women board managers need to be effective board members,” said Swindon Trainers in a statement.

“The seminar is for women board members and men in human resource management, who deal with gender issues at corporate board levels and board councils of public and private institutions.

“This course is open to all boards of all sectors targeting primarily women.”

The seminar is aimed at raising awareness on key roles played by women board members in the country’s economic and financial development.

“The objective of the seminar is to appreciate the contribution of women in the economic growth of the country and acquire a deeper understanding of the problems women face, and proffer solutions and understand the working of corporate and public boards and how women board members can contribute to the efficient management of boards.”

It also seeks to broaden the range of leadership strategies that can assist women board members to play their part in Zimbabwe’s economy.

The seminar will shine a light on gender dimensions in women leadership positions in boards, and enhance women leadership capabilities in Government, local authorities, parastatals, non-governmental organisations, churches and other sectors of the economy.
