TOCKY Vibes believes his 36-track mixtape is going to win him back ‘lost’ fans and equally position him as one of the most sought after singers in the country.

Born Obey Makamure, the chanter also said the project helped mend his relations with fellow musician ExQ.

The two had a nasty fallout some two or so years back over their hit song “Wakatemba”.

Tocky and ExQ fought over royalties generated by the track which has over 2,7 million views on YouTube. The dispute resulted in the song being temporarily pulled down from the online site in 2020.

It is understood that Tocky featured on ExQ’s “Wakatemba” on the agreement that the “Musalala” singer would also feature on his project.

However, ExQ reneged on the agreement.

“We are now in good books with ExQ. He came through and we did a collaboration as we had initially planned. This was the only thing that was affecting our relationship,” revealed Tocky to The Sunday Mail Society.

The Extended Play (EP) is titled “Chicken and Chama” and is a mixture of genres though with a heavy bias towards the Afro fusion sound.

ExQ features on the song “Usambotya” alongside Shyne and Mr Brown.

Tocky reckons the new offering has everything for everyone.

He also indicated that the EP was supposed to have more songs than it is currently carrying.

“I wanted the songs to be 50. However, I was now behind time and had to settle for 36,” he said.

Some of the outstanding tracks on the EP include “Chigero”, “Depression”, “Nzizi”, “Sando Dzangu” and “Tingashorana”.

“I did my best. I believe this is a project that will once again turn the corner for me. I feel this is the kind of stuff my fans have been waiting for.

“I decided to release more songs at one go as I had taken long without dropping new material. I am hoping to get at least five hits from the mixtape and probably reclaim a top spot as it was back in the days,” said Tocky.

The chanter also featured Leonard “LKZee” Zhakata on the song “Mhosva Yangu”.

The song is already making waves on the market.

“It is still too early but indications are that my collaboration song with Zhakata (Leonard) is doing extremely well. I am optimistic the song will do well just like my 2014 hit ‘Nzombe Huru’ (also known as Mhai) did.”

The EP is still fresh and only time will tell if Tocky managed to hit or miss the mark.
