AWARD-winning rapper, songwriter and entrepreneur Tawanda Makanga, better known as TMak, has released a new track titled “Handina Kugeza”.

A brilliant video, which was produced by Cottage 47 and Soko Media, accompanies the song.

In “Handina Kugeza”, TMak sings about an incident in which he was forced by circumstances to leave the house and go on errands without bathing.

The song is currently receiving positive reviews.

This year, the 24-year-old rapper has already released three tracks, with “Musatinetse” being the first release in January.

The track was followed by “Hatitambe”, which features singers MindLace and Thando.

Nonhlanhla Mpala, a music critic with an online women’s magazine which is headquartered in Bulawayo, described “Hatitambe” as “a great track which was marvellously produced”.

“Cottage 47, which produced this track, brought the heat on this one. Lyrically, they did what had to be done — bars-on-bars. The beat is flames. The production is seamless. Everything flows from start to end. And to add on, the hook is unbelievably catchy. I just couldn’t stop singing it,” wrote Mpala.

A member of Cottage 47, a collaborative group of artistes based in Bulawayo whose main objective is to create a platform for artistes to perform as well as build on their craft, TMak’s first hit single was “Checking on Price.”

Well-known rapper ASAPH featured on the debut 2017 single.

The group Cottage 47 is consistently releasing new music with a bias towards upcoming artistes.

TMak took part in the group’s initiatives, among them the ‘Cottage Fortnights’ and the ‘Cottage Festival’, which were held in 2019 and 2020.

“My vision is to be the voice of Zimbabwean youths, focusing on channelling my innovation and creativity towards paving the way for upcoming artistes,” TMak said.

With a sizeable social media following, he also has a Chimurenga album that is available on all streaming platforms.

Apart from producing music, he is also a businessman and music promoter.

Cottage 47 walked away with the best rapper gong at the Sando Awards in 2020, with the Bulawayo-based group winning the Best Promoter award at the Zim Hip Hop awards, again in 2020.
