THE SHARP SHOOTER: Gamatox cabal is living dangerously Dr Joice Mujuru

The Sunday Mail

The Gamatox cabal is a dangerous cabal that is why they are living dangerously by creating the dangerous idea that there is a Zanu-PF split, a real Zanu-PF and a not-so-real Zanu-PF.

For over a decade, a secret political clique nowadays scornfully referred to as a banned pesticide called Gamatox and led by Joice Runaida Mugari Mujuru, whose nom de guerre during Zimbabwe’s liberation struggle was Teurai Ropa, thought they had usurped all power.

The contemptuous cortège which comprises the hoodlum Didymus Noel Edwin Mutasa and the huffing and puffing Rugare Eleck Ngidi Gumbo have completely forgotten the art of war and are now living dangerously.

Having been dishonourably discharged from the revolutionary party, the Gamatox cabal is free. It is free to make their ulterior intentions known. Free to make all the miserable utterances that have become synonymous with their clique.

Free to feed fat on all the available sour grapes. Yes, the cabal is free, but the brutal reality is that it is everywhere in chains. They have entangled themselves in a risky web of under-rating the pedigree of the revolutionary party and its revolutionary leader, that son of a great woman called Gogo Bona. Their arrogance has been exacerbated by the golden silence of Dr Amai.

Now they are under the pathetic illusion that they can form an opposition party.

Despite their formlessness, they have thrown all subtlety to the whirlwind and there remains nothing mysterious about them anymore.

Driven by a myopic objective to get rid of “mafikizolos” within Zanu-PF while ironically at the same time being spurred on by a reckless liability called Temba Mliswa who is a vivid personification of a preposterous mafikizolo, the cabal is vainly clutching at straws.

With apparent disdain, they are putting up a brave face and appearing strong when they are painfully experiencing the weakest episode in their rapid demise.

Joice Mujuru’s dream of one day being at the helm of Zimbabwe can now only be seen in terms of a pipe dream while Mutasa and Gumbo may continue to resist sinking into oblivion by choking on sound bites that are peddled by a private media that is trying to remain relevant in the face of dwindling shareholder confidence.

Mujuru continues to tread on very thin ice as she deludes her bigoted lieutenants into thinking that they are the “real” Zanu-PF.

Such utterances smack of how Tendai Biti and his renewal grouping still taunt Morgan Tsvangirai that they are the “real” MDC.

Nevertheless, Biti’s cabal seems to have some form of structure while the Mujuru pesticide is all over the place, threatening that they have launched a “People First” outfit which is supposedly “original”.

Something is rotten within the Mujuru cabal. Something stinks. To high heavens.

As they decompose, they feel obliged to smear the whole decay on loyal champions of this nation’s economic emancipation. They have sleepless nights in a bid to ensure the Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Socio- Economic Transformation suffers a stillbirth.

Suddenly they see everything wrong with a party that they once steadfastly stood for. Suddenly they are concerned about the whereabouts of a nonentity called Itai Dzamara and concerned, too, about what they claim “unclear circumstances” surrounding General Mujuru’s death.

Living dangerously entails going to war when victory is glaringly unattainable. Living dangerously involves fighting a perceived enemy without adequate preparation or with hasty disregard as to the opponent’s strength.

Gamatox has declared war on the revolutionary party and Didymus Mutasa did good when he got himself disqualified from the Headlands by-election. In his schizophrenic mind, he filed his papers wishing to represent Zanu-PF and that meant his candidature fell by the wayside.

Smart move, Didymus, really smart.

Didymus Noel Edwin Mutasa saved himself from the greatest humiliation of his 80 years on earth. Clearly, he could see that the revolutionary party was secure on all fronts.

Clearly, he was not fooled to think that the revolutionary party does not have superior voter strength. His disqualification was no fluke, it was a well-orchestrated evasion of the mortification that was to befall him.

Enter Temba Mliswa, the Gamatox mafikizolo who has already printed campaign posters befitting a political clown jesting that he is “Bhuru Romusha”.

Mliswa, in his naivete, failed to pluck a leaf from his uncle’s frivolously filed nomination papers.

Mliswa, in his gullibility, forgot that his Gamatox stalwarts are peddling the idea of a “Zanu People First” party which is yet without form, structure or substance as he declared himself an independent candidate.

Effectively, he declared himself independent of the Gamatox cabal, independent of Zim-Asset, independent of unity, peace or development, independent of thought.

Here is a lone ranger, a sorry soul, lost in his own wispy dreams.

Mliswa will rue the day he started living dangerously which is the day he veiled himself in miserable obscurity.

The celebrated Chinese military genius, Sun Tzu, always gave the wise counsel that “Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win”.

Mliswa has decided to do the latter at his own peril.

There would not have been any point of writing this article this far if it were not to challenge Mujuru to rally her Gamatox army in a test of popularity in the forthcoming by-elections or, better still, in the 2018 general election.

Not doing so would be encouraging silence on things that matter for this nation.

Zanu-PF and its gallant leader Cde Robert Mugabe are ready to extinguish the banned pesticide Gamatox once and for all.

While the literal pesticide was banned in Zimbabwe in the 1980s for causing severe and acute health effects to those exposed to it such as nerve disorders, skin irritation and even death, the political pesticide is unrelentingly holding the country to ransom by causing alarm, despondency and perpetuating socio-economic malaise.

The Gamatox cabal is a dangerous cabal that is why they are living dangerously by creating the dangerous idea that there is a Zanu-PF split, a real Zanu-PF and a not-so-real Zanu-PF.

What they are essentially hoping for is to obtain a semblance of legitimacy that emanates from the confusion, but what they do not realise is that in the midst of all the chaos, they will cease to exist.
