The feeling of inadequacy

Hunt for Greatness
The feeling of inadequacy is as common as a common cold.

You have the power and capacity to rise above it.

Inside you, there is a great giant seeking release.

Never allow the mistakes of the past to rob you of the blessings of the future.

I have also been afflicted by this disease of inadequacy many times.

I always take it as a message to prime my growth and development.

Never let the symptoms of inadequacy bog you down and stop you.

There is always a first time and an opportunity to learn and grow.

The feeling of inadequacy is curable. Its symptoms can be managed. Use this feeling to your advantage and not against you.

Let it inspire you to prepare, dig deeper, learn and grow faster than you normally would.

Do not use the feelings of inadequacy as a crutch.

It is not to be used as an excuse but as a catalyst of your growth.

You may also have been afflicted by this feeling of inadequacy in some area of your life and work. Do not despair.

Even if you have felt that you did not measure up, do not take yourself off the shelf.

Do not stop trying and growing.

Small steps start great momentum. When afflicted by the feelings of inadequacy, it is common to feel that you are not good enough.

Other people may appear better than you in every way.

You may feel that you are fake and other people may just unmask you. You do not have to continue in this affliction.

Whatever is your current disadvantage can be turned around.

Your mess will give you your message.

Acceptance

Very few people start at the deep advantaged end of the pool of life. You never start out knowing everything.

Beginning always has its challenges.

Experience is acquired over time.

Acknowledge the gaps and areas where you need help.

There is a lot of help you can use if you can only seek for it.

Whatever you do not know, you can learn. Whatever you cannot do, you can get help.

Never be content to remain in darkness, ignorance and fear.

Do not just wait in your cheese-less station thinking and acting like a victim.

Keep growing and developing. Search for help and you will get it. Seek and you will find. Knock and the doors will open. Ask and you will get help. There is always something you can learn and become.

The pace of your growth is determined by the intensity of your hunger for progress.

Purpose to grow daily and keep learning.

Pursue personal improvement with passion.

Life is a giant textbook that offers countless opportunities for learning and growth.

Prepare

Prepare daily and you will position yourself for greatness.

Time spent in preparation is never wasted time. Most preparation takes place far from the podium and stage of visibility.

Your investment in preparation will always pay handsome dividends.

Part of preparation is learning. Expand your horizon and modes of learning.

When you can no longer learn, you are near irrelevance.

Put in place your personal development plan and follow it through.

Do not wait for someone to develop you.

Take personal responsibility for your own growth and learning.

Every day is preparation day.

There is always an opportunity to learn something that you did not know when you woke up today.

It is not the wish for greatness that matters.

Many people have the desire for greatness and lust for glory.

What matters is the will and discipline to prepare.

What you do in private determines what people will eventually see in public.

Focus your efforts and intensity of preparation.

Even if there appears to be no present opportunity, never escape the opportunity to prepare.

Prepare in season and out of season. When preparation meets opportunity eventually, the offspring is success.

Greatness without foundations is short-lived.

You will never become very good without being better.

Put failure in context

Failure does not mean that you as a person are a failure.

Do not take failure personally and condemn yourself into a permanent fool.

Learn from your failures because they are the textbooks of success.

You cannot become great except through attempting things and risking failure.

After any failed attempt, never lose hope because failure is the seed of success.

Failure does not mean that you will never make it at all.

It means that it will take just a little longer.

A delay is not a denial.

Keep to the knitting, improving with each attempt.

Do not park at the scene of your failed attempts.

Take others seriously but do not take yourself too seriously or write yourself off too soon.

It is not the number of times you fail that matters but the number of times you are willing to rise and face your giants.

Do not wear failure like a tattered and dirty garment.

There is no need for you to behave like a victim.

Put on a new confidence and take off the shame that you once attempted something bold and great.

It is no shame to attempt something great and fail.

It is a shame to attempt nothing and win.

Be proud that you had the boldness and courage to dare.

Do not wear failure on your face like spectacles.

Everyone has his or her failures beautifully tucked away in their private timeline.

Wear a new confidence and boldness.

If your confidence has been shaken, take it up again.

Keep at the game and keep punching.

Stand up to fight when you are hardest hit.

Do not wear failure on your wrist like a watch.

The seasons of your life are not determined by the failures that you have had.

Let your future be determined by your visions of the future.

Wear your hopes, not your shame.

Do not bother trying to apportion blame. It does not matter who is to blame. What is important is to get back into the game.

Stand up and do what you must do.

Get help

You cannot be all things to yourself. If need be, get help.

Professional assistance will compress the learning curve for you.

Mentors allow you to extend your visionary horizon and broaden your canvas of options. Coaches allow you to raise your game.

Look for help and you will get help.

Learning

Learning starts but does not end. You cannot be expected to master some expertise and then routinely apply yourself over a lifetime and hope to be a success.

Your greatness is in steadily renewing your knowledge base and extending it to new areas. Keep scanning for new pockets of knowledge to improve your performance and delivery. The lifelong cycle of learning is the foundation of greatness.

The opportunities to learn are everywhere.

Read widely and never be satisfied to have spent a week without reading anything worthwhile.

When you make daily reading a habit, you will see your confidence soaring every day.

Do not let the feelings of inadequacy hold you back.

Find help, grow your knowledge base, set big goals and keep improving daily.

There is always a first time and that first time may feel very uncomfortable.

The key to mastery is repetition and continuous learning and development.
