Taking business out of the lecture room

BRIDGING the gap between the lecture rooms and our future business offices and creating business relationships was the theme for the Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT) marketers’ business toast and award ceremony which was organised by us (Kudakwashe Mashero and Theophilus Mawere.)
On Saturday the 23rd of April at CUT Hotels’ Orange Grove Motel, level 2:1 International Marketing students successfully hosted this first marketers business toast and awards ceremony graced with the presence of some of the most pronounced managers from different organizations, young successful entrepreneurs and university lecturers. Students presented their entrepreneurial projects which they are managing prior to studying for their first degrees.

Three outstanding projects came from Hadassah Chaza who is in clothing and fashion designing with her company Dassah’s Corner.

The second project was from Sande Jayson Patrick founder of Sunday Creations a company which specialise in Industrial Designing. The third project was from Emmanuel Muzondiwa and Kudakwashe Mashero the directors of Porcus a company which is in the retail business selling groceries and stationery.

The guest of honour was Mr Tafadzwa Madera who is a former CUT marketing student, the Founder of Charity Begins at Home charity organisation and currently working at Wraprite. Mr Madera denounced plagiarism “the copy and paste system” which is corroding tertiary education hence he went on to encourage us to work for our degrees tirelessly.

Mr Justin Nyakunu branch administrator for Chinhoyi Nyaradzo funeral services was impressed with the students’ and motivated us with the history of Mr Philip Mataranyika the founder of Nyaradzo funeral services.

Mr Kamoyo the chairperson of marketing department at Chinhoyi University applauded the efforts being made by the marketing student outside their lecture rooms.

“Success is not limited by the number of times one fails, however when you fail try again and you will make it because failure is an opportunity to learn,” those where the chairman’s word as he was encouraging everyone to engage in more entrepreneurial ventures.

Senior marketing lecturers Mr Karedza and Mr Majoni promised everlasting support and soft loans for those students who want to start and expand their businesses and the event was approved to be an annual event. Some of the awards included best academic, best sports person and best presenter.
