LET us face it, unless you are a millionaire, you probably do not have enough closet space. Instead of cutting your clothing collection, use the tricks below to create twice as much space as you had before.

Add storage under clothes

If you are cramped on space, place a small dresser and shoe rack beneath your hanging clothes. The top of the dresser can hold accessories, like hats and jewellery.

Get creative

To add additional hanging storage, hang a branch on an empty wall to double as a rack. It is functional and just seriously cool looking. You can paint it in any colour of your choice.

Rearrange your shoes

Storing shoes is a nightmare, but do not stress. You can fit more pairs on a shelf when you position alternate shoes facing the opposite direction. Try some cubbies (dividers) to help keep everything tidy.

Use a hanging organiser

You can double up the number of clothes you store in your closet by adding a second level with a rod.

It has hooks on the side for purses and other accessories. It is also perfect for hanging scarves and belts as it ensures easy access to the depths of your closet, it is totally easy to do it yourself.

Use specialised hangers

Buying custom designs will better fit the particular piece of clothing you are organising. Under garments, for example, can easily slide on and off of these hangers, thanks to their open-ended design. You will be able to fit more into your closet, since they hang flat against each other.

Hang hooks

If you have too many shoes and not enough space, make use of little-used door space by offering each shoe its own S-hook. This helps in the aeration of the shoe. housebeautiful.com
