CONTEMPORARY reggae-gospel music artist V-Minister is on a mission to spread the word of God through the genre. Born Victor Takunda Musakanda, the Masvingo based artist is currently rocking the airwaves with the song ‘Peer Pressure’ which is a collaboration with his high school old friend, Ras Caleb.The artist says he is on a mission to revolutionise the local reggae musical genre.

The song is featuring on the Star FM future hits, an indication that it might soon get on to the Star FM Gospel Greats which airs every Sunday from 6pm to 8pm.

The artist has also released a six track gospel album titled ‘Reggae Gospel Volume One’.

Songs on the album include ‘Break every chain’, ‘Here I am to worship’, ‘Forgiveness’, ‘Glory’, ‘Alpha and Omega’ and ‘Makanaka’.

He said the album is his third since his separation from Pastor Bonnie Deutchle’s musical ensemble, The Celebration Choir.

The 33-year-old musician’s music is produced in Masvingo by CeeKlear.

“It’s high time someone in this generation takes a musical responsibility to shape the moral and spiritual fiber of our society,” said V-Minister.

“My music is a testimony that something good can come out of reggae music,” he said.

V-Minister chronicled his musical journey from his high school days, saying he formed a musical acapella group about 20 years ago at Berejena High School in Chivi.

“The accapella group comprised of Bulldog, Ras Caleb, Lady Sakhile Mamutse and l. Lady Sakhile Mamutse is now based in Australia, thus ironically happens to be the musical umbilical cord on the airwaves. “Things are shaping up and I am convinced that God called me into the ministry long back,” he said.
