STAR FM Gospel Greats debutants “Soul Ministers” say “we are living in the end times” as foretold by the Bible. Band spokesperson, Pastor Simbarashe Mukwacha said apart from preaching the word from the pulpit the Holy Spirit inspired them to venture into gospel music in a bid to spread their message. “God is preparing his church for rapture, according to Roman 13 v12. Our music encourages the bride (Church) to contend for a gospel faith that was once delivered unto the saints of old, according to Jude 3.

“We are living in the end time, evidenced by the fulfilment of biblical prophecies, the rise of many false messengers, increase of wickedness among other things.

“Our vision of restoring the good way is extrapolated from Jeremiah 6 v16 which says, ‘The Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls,” said Pr Mukwecha. Soul Ministers was founded in 2004 and it is made up of 20 members among them 14 vocalists and six instrumentalists.

Pr Mukwacha said, “Huyai” the song which is featuring on the Star FM charts show was inspired by God. “How the song came about is quite interesting. I never really sat down to think of composing it. The song came through a dream from the Lord based on Isaiah 35v 8 which says ‘A highway shall be there, and a road and it shall be called the Highway of Holiness. The unclean shall not pass over it…” he said.

Pr Mukwecha added that the song is divided into two parts with the first part addressing unbelievers, urging them to forsake their ungodly ways which lead to destruction.

“As we all know that there are two destinies –heaven and hell, and the manner of life one leads on this earth ultimately determines their destination,” he said. The second part is addressed to Christians the majority in this country to be careful in the journey of faith.

“The Bible says, ‘Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world,’ 1 John 4v1,” Pr Mukwacha said. Pr Mukwacha said as the group they draw inspiration from God.

“We are Bible based preachers who are using music as a vehicle to convey the message of Christ. We are inspired by the Scriptures. As artistes we are also mirrors of the society hence we sing about issues happening in the society but from a Scriptural point of view, because all Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, according to 2 Timothy 3 v16,” he said.

Pr Mukwecha who wrote the song ‘Huyai’ said he had a passion for music from his childhood. “To me being a pastor is a calling and music came as an additional important medium to share the gospel of Christ Jesus to many people who may not be in our immediate physical reach.

“Some people find music playing a strong complementary role to the usual conventional sermons they are used to. “Having our song being played on the award-winning Star Fm Gospel Greats is a huge advantage because the show has a huge listenership, not only in Zimbabwe, but across the world.

Soul Ministers will launch their seven track debut album titled “Heavenly way, Nzira yekuDenga” with a live DVD recording show set for August.

The album will feature songs that include; I am the Way, Ndinomuona Jesu, Ndimire, Tarisai kuna Jesu, Mufaro, Who is like Jesus and Sanganai.
