TWO sisters aged 58 and 60 kept quiet about their mother’s death and lived with her corpse for nine days in their apartment in Benin City, Nigeria.
The two claimed that God had instructed them not to publicise the death.
However, an offensive stench that emerged from the apartment after some days forced neighbours to barge in, and they discovered the bloated body.
The elder sister then revealed that they had been instructed by God not to disclose their mother’s death to anyone, a position that was supported by the younger sister.
Following the discovery, the neighbours and the landlord reportedly took the body to a mortuary while the police were called in.
“The sisters were not arrested. There were no reasonable grounds to do so because every family has the right to their culture,” said Edo State police command spokesperson, SP Katongs Bello.

Villagers in Gokwe were left in shock and disgust after a male cat gave birth to three kittens in a case the community linked to witchcraft.
In the bizarre incident in which one of the kittens died soon after birth, the owner of the cat, 90-year-old Gogo Cathrine Makoni had to assist her pet to deliver.
In an interview with “B-Metro”, Gogo Makoni said she became suspicious some months prior to the incident, when the cat’s belly started getting big.
However, she did not expect it to be pregnant since it is male.
She added that it is the first time such a shocking and scary thing has happened in the family and community.
“On the day, I noticed that the cat was becoming restless and called my daughter-in-law, who examined it but also never thought it was pregnant,” she said.
“When it started giving birth, she fled, leaving me behind, and I had to help it.”
The cat even tried to suckle its kittens and failed.
Shockingly, later, Gogo Makoni attempted on two separate occasions to dump the cat and its kittens, but they would find their way back home.
This, she said, is a scary nightmare she will not forget for life.
Although the community linked the incident to witchcraft and the use of black magic, Gogo Makoni said she does not subscribe to witchcraft acts.
“I think this could be a sign that something bad might befall the family,” she said.

A 19-year-old woman claims she has given birth to twins from two different fathers after having slept with both men on the same day.
The young Brazilian took a paternity test to confirm who the father of her babies was and she was surprised when she discovered that they were from different men.
She revealed that she slept with two different men on the same day and became pregnant from both of them.
“I was surprised by the results. I didn’t know this could happen,” she said.
Her doctor said such cases were rare, describing it as a “one in a million” situation.
The medic said there are only around 20 other cases worldwide of heteropaternal superfecundation, as it is known scientifically.
It occurs when a second ova released during the same menstrual cycle is additionally fertilised by the sperm cells of a different man in separate sexual intercourse, the National Library of Medicine explains.
In such a scenario, the babies share the mother’s genetic material, but they grow in different placentas.
According to the woman, the babies looked similar at first, but after eight months, she began to notice differences, prompting her to get DNA from the man she thought was the father. However, the test only came back as a positive match for one of her two children.
After repeating the test and getting the same results, she then remembered that she had intercourse with another man the same day. The man was later tested and the result was positive for the other child.

Emson Mkhwananzi, was recently attacked by a mysterious ailment that left a giant gaping hole on his left f
oot.
Eager to find out what was eating away a chunk of his flesh and causing him immense pain, he went on to consult a traditional healer.
The healer told him that he was bewitched and gave him an assortment of herbs for treatment in exchange for a cow.
Seemingly healing at first, the wound got worse some days later, with pus passing out.
This prompted Mr Mkhwananzi to revisit the healer and demand his beast back.
The healer, however, failed to give him any further assistance or return the cow.
Mr Mkhwananzi then went on to consult a local prophet, who failed to assist him.
Fortunately, around that time, a renowned Apostolic man visited Mberengwa and the ailing man decided to try his luck.
“He said I was bewitched, so he prayed for me, and a strange insect came out of the wound together with huge volumes of pus,” said Mr Mkhwananzi.
