Apostle Phiri calls for thanksgiving

GOSPEL acapella outfit Shower Power Music presented a Christmas gift to its fans on December 18 when they launched their ninth album, “Latter Rain”, at Harare’s 7 Arts Theatre.
“Latter Rain” carries 11 tracks: “Change My Heart”, “Mweya Mutsvene”, “Uthembekile”, “Kune Zororo”, “Vimbanashe”, “Pezulu”, “Only Jesus”, “Makarurama”, “Ishe Mumoyo”, “Jericho” and “Message of Hope”.
Shower Power music director Elder Mandikudza Sithole said, “We are living in the last days and God will soon pour his spirit which will make his fruits ripe for harvest and this is the latter rain.
“Our album, ‘Latter Rain’, is a wake-up call to warn the world that the outpouring of the Holy Spirit is about to happen. All Christians received early rains which led them to become believers and now we should earnestly wait for the latter rain which will make us ripe for salvation.”
He said Christians should prepare for the latter rain by ensuring progressive growth through reading of the Bible, praying, sharing the Word of God and listening to uplifting music.
“Once the latter rain comes then the next thing is the harvest which Christ will do on His return.” Supporting groups at the launch included Just Six from South Africa, Harare-based Thee Family, Reclaim from Gweru, and Prosper. Meanwhile, Rainbow Ministries International founder, Apostle Mac Phiri has lauded Zimbabweans for appreciating God’s love and care even during hard times.
He made these remarks at a recent church service in Warren Park 1, Harare where he hosted an end of year service dubbed “Thanks Giving”.
Apostle Phiri made extensive use of Reverend Tapera Chivaviro’s hit song “Ebenezer” in his sermon.
“It is not by might or by our power to be alive; it is God’s providence. And as human beings, particularly Zimbabweans, we ought to thank God. God loves us as Zimbabweans and in return we must appreciate His love.
“If any country finds itself in any of the situation we went through, I bet it will not survive. We endured because we appreciated God’s care and love. God has given us the spirit of containment, we live with what we have and that on its own is a spiritual gift,” Apostle Phiri said.
He explained that thanksgiving was different from fundraising.
“If we want money we have ways of raising it .So it is important for our people to understand that thanksgiving is sacred than fundraising,” Apostle Phiri said.
Rainbow Ministries International started three years ago in Harare and has spread to South Africa and Mozambique.
