SEED manufacturing company, Seed Co, has urged companies to introduce facilities that enable them to procure seeds for their employees, to boost the nation’s food security and workers’ morale.

This week, the seed company will host a virtual seminar dubbed Virtual Employee Input Scheme Symposium (VEISS) to engage companies on the matter. In a statement, Seed Co’s senior manager for public relations and special programmes, Ms Majorie Mutemererwa, said under VEISS, corporates are encouraged to procure seeds for their employees either as a Christmas gift or a deductible expense.

“Such an initiative will promote workforce productivity as this will boost employee morale. Instead of employees roaming around looking for seed that is suitable for their ecological regions, employers can purchase from Seed Co. This is about being innovative and managing down time. It is also about positively enhancing employer and employee relationships,” she said.

Ms Mutemererwa said the initiative will help corporates to be part of the Pfumvudza/Intwasa/ conservation farming initiative.

“As bread winners, our employees can now afford to provide their parents and loved ones with a bag or packet of seed from Seed Co.

“The employer can chip in without feeling the financial strain. If we are all to talk the same language of conservation farming, then we would have beaten hunger at household level. With seed security, comes food security,” she said.
