IN a stunning display of martial arts skill, three karatekas from Prince Edward School came second in a tournament held in Louis Trichardt, South Africa, on April 23.

The three learners — Tinaye Kanjanga, Terrence Chayendera and Godwin Madehle — are in Form Six and each of them is aged 17.

They represented their school well, with their impressive performance winning the hearts of judges and spectators alike.

The tournament brought together some of the best young karate athletes from across Southern Africa, making the achievement of the Prince Edward learners all the more impressive.

Despite the tough competition, the trio rose to the challenge and showcased their skills.

They displayed a combination of speed, power and technique that left their opponents struggling to keep up.

Prince Edward School has a reputation of producing talented martial artists. The institution has invested heavily in its martial arts programme as it provides learners with access to top-notch facilities and expert coaching.

The investment is clearly paying off.

The success of the three is testament to the dedication and hard work of both the learners and their instructors.

“We are thrilled that we achieved second place at such a prestigious tournament,” said Kanjanga after the tournament.

“It is testament to the hard work and dedication we have put into our training. We are grateful to our coaches and the school for their support.”

The success of the trio is likely to inspire other young martial artists at the school and across Zimbabwe to pursue their dreams and strive for excellence.

While it is a proud moment for the school and the country, many look forward to seeing what these talented young karatekas will achieve in the future.
