A PASSENGER who opened the door of an airplane mid-air claimed to have felt “suffocated” and had a strong desire to alight swiftly.

The incident took place as the Asiana Airlines aircraft approached the runway at Daegu International Airport, located approximately 240 kilometres southeast of Seoul, South Korea, during a domestic flight with nearly 200 passengers on board.

At an altitude of around 200 metres above ground, the unidentified man — believed to be in his 30s based on preliminary information — opened the aeroplane’s exit door.

Speaking on his reasons for taking such a decision, he stated that he had been “under stress after losing a job recently”.

“He felt the flight was taking longer than it should have been. He felt suffocated inside the cabin. He wanted to get out quickly,” a Daegu police detective told AFP.

The man now faces the possibility of up to 10 years of imprisonment for violating aviation safety regulations. — Wires

Woman approves husband’s marriage to their daughter

A woman from Congo has narrated the pain she felt after finding out her daughter was sleeping with her husband and ended up giving birth.

The disappointed woman half-heartedly accepted the results of the union and forgave her husband and agreed to live with her daughter as a co-wife.

According to an article, the mother was very hurt and asked for a divorce. However, she realised this would not solve the problem. It would, instead, sow seeds of enmity between them.

“She wanted her husband jailed for forcing their daughter to sleep with him and have a child with him but she realised that was not the solution,” Afrimax reported.

The daughter regretted sleeping with her father but the regret could not change the situation that she had given birth to a child with the father.

“After the mother came back, she realised it was her mistake for having left her husband for a long time, which caused her daughter’s feelings of sexuality. Then she decided to forgive and now they all live a good life as a polygamous family,” the article said. — Wires

Hotel guest gets shock of his life

A hotel guest is planning to sue a hotel chain after claiming he woke up in the night to find a member of staff sucking his toes.

Peter Brennan, from Texas, was staying overnight at the Hilton Downtown Nashville hotel on March 30 for a work conference.

However, his night’s sleep was allegedly interrupted at around 5am, when hotel employee David Neal (52), let himself into Mr Brennan’s room.

According to Nashville Metropolitan Police, he had cloned a key card to let himself in, and when Mr Brennan woke up, he found his toes were in Neal’s mouth.

Mr Brennan said: “I instantly jumped up and was screaming. Went into sort of fact-finding mode. Who are you? Why are you in my room? What are you doing here?

“I could see he was wearing a uniform; he had his name tag on. He was talking to me but not giving me any substantive answers.”

Neal, reportedly the night manager of the hotel, claimed he entered the room because he could smell smoke, but no other guests or staff had reported smelling smoke that night.

He was arrested at his home in nearby Lebanon, Tennessee, and was charged with aggravated burglary and assault. Mr Brennan says he still does not “really feel safe in my own home” following the incident, and is suing both Neal and Hilton Hotels.

A Hilton spokesman said: “Hilton Nashville Downtown is independently owned and operated by a third party and no Hilton entity employs staff at this property.

“The safety and security of our guests is our top priority and Hilton takes matters such as these very seriously.”

A separate statement from hotel management said: “The safety and security of our guests and team members is our highest priority. We are working closely with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, and, as part of company policy, we do not comment on ongoing investigations.” — Wires
