Nine months pregnancy disappears

The Sunday Mail

A PREGNANT woman has reported the strange disappearance of her anticipated twins at Levy Mwanawasa Hospital in Lusaka, Zambia.

The incident, which was brought to light on television, has left the woman in a state of shock and despair.

Throughout her pregnancy, the woman had carried the twins, with regular scans affirming their presence.

However, on arriving at Levy Mwanawasa Hospital for delivery, medical professionals advised her to undergo a surgical procedure to bring her babies into the world.

Regrettably, upon awakening from the operation, the mother was informed by the hospital staff that her womb was now empty and there was no trace of the twins.

Overwhelmed by this devastating news, the woman is seeking an explanation from the hospital on the whereabouts of her beloved babies.

The disappearance of the twins without any explanation from the hospital staff has sparked public outrage, with many questioning how such a weird incident could occur.

Some individuals have accused the medical personnel of negligence, while others have expressed concern over the quality of care provided at the hospital.

The hospital has responded by initiating an investigation into the matter, assuring the public that the medical staff would be held accountable if any wrongdoing is established.

Meanwhile, the mother and her family are anxiously awaiting answers as they struggle to cope with the loss of their anticipated children. — Wires

Man leaves grandparents for dead over smoke

A repeat offender who went on a rampage, attacking his grandparents with a metal rod and a chair after scolding him for smoking in the house, has been jailed.

The court heard that Lawrence Dube (49) took offence when his grandfather scolded him for smoking in the living room.

Breathing fire, Dube grabbed his grandfather Elliot Dube (82) by the throat.

He rained blows on the old man and hit him with a metal rod on the head, leaving him lying unconscious in a pool of blood.

The court heard that he later turned his anger on his grandmother Sophy Dube (79) and hit her several times with a stool, leaving her gasping for air in a pool of blood.

On January 29, Dube appeared before the Kezi resident magistrate facing two counts of physical abuse.

He pleaded guilty to both counts.

The magistrate convicted him and sentenced him to four years’ imprisonment before suspending two years on condition he does not commit a similar offence within five years.

The court brought into effect three months which had been suspended for an assault he committed in 2021.

This means Dube will effectively serve two years and three months in jail.

In mitigation, Dube pleaded with the court to be lenient with him, saying he is a father who is looking after his minor children. — B-Metro

Juvenile suffers injuries in fight over rolling paper

A dispute over Rizla rolling paper left a 17-year-old boy from Makokoba suburb in Bulawayo with a cut on the ear and a bruise on the stomach after he refused to sell the product on credit to a regular customer.

The accused, who cannot be named for ethical reasons, appeared before a Bulawayo magistrate facing two charges of assault. He was not asked to plead and was remanded out of custody to February 19.

Allegations against the juvenile are that on January 28, 2024, Blessing Muzindo met the former, who wanted to buy some Rizla rolling paper on credit but he declined.

Around 8pm, at some shops in Makokoba, the accused, who was in the company of his friends, met Muzindo.

The accused’s friends blocked Muzindo’s way and the suspect approached him carrying a stone, which he used to assault the complainant on the right ear.

Muzindo broke away, but the accused threw a stone at him and it hit him on the right side of his stomach.

On the next day, around 3pm, the accused met Muzindo, who was heading to his uncle’s house to see his nephew who had been assaulted by the juvenile. The juvenile threw a stone at the complainant but he missed his target, so he decided to move closer.

The suspect stabbed Muzindo once with a knife on the right side of the chest and the victim sustained a deep cut. — B-Metro
