THE Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) says it intends to spread its charity activities across the country’s provinces.

Speaking during the recently held ZPCS charity golf tournament, ZPCS deputy spokesperson Superintendent Peter Chaparanganda said extending their fundraising programmes around the country will help boost their social responsibility capacity.

“As the ZPCS staff we are working on stretching our works towards the peripheries of the country so that we can help more citizens,” he said.

“ZPCS hosts various fundraising events and tournaments like horse races, dinners, raffle and donations in partnership with different stakeholders.”

The golf tournament held on October 15 in Mount Pleasant, Harare was meant to raise funds for charity work.

ZPCS boss, Commissioner-General Moses Chihobvu thanked stakeholders for the funds raised during the tournament.

“My profound gratitude goes to everyone who has made this event a success. We should maintain this spirit and even do more,” said Commissioner-General Chihobvu.

ZPCS charity foundation was formed by the late national hero Commissioner-General Major-General (Retired) Paradzai Zimondi in 2011.

It was formed with the core aims of helping widows, orphans and disabled members of society.

Since it was formed, the charity had helped many students to go to school. Two of the beneficiaries have graduated at tertiary level while one is still enrolled. They also have 47 students at secondary level and 74 in primary school.
