Zimbabwe scooped three accolades at the Public Service Day commemorations held in Victoria Falls last week.

The biggest winners were the Zimbabwe Public Service Commission (PSC), which was named the “Most Accountable and Transparent” organisation.

The Ministry of Industry and Commerce was the second runner-up in the same category.

The Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare won the second runner-up award under the “Best Innovation in Service Delivery” category.

Speaking soon after the award ceremony, Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare spokesperson Ms Respect Chofamba said the awards are evidence that Zimbabwe is on the rebound, anchored on good public service ethics.

“Winning the best awards in two categories was a huge moment of pride and excitement for us all,” she said.

“We are immensely proud and thankful for the massive combined effort, loyalty and innovation that have been the hallmark of our resilience and determination as we march towards rebuilding our nation through good public service delivery.”

The awards were given by the African Union (AU) to countries who participated during the three-day Public Service Day commemorations, which attracted at least 15 countries from the continent.

Other African countries participated virtually.
