US-based musician Thomas Mapfumo, who claimed to have retired in 2023, has given his nephew Kurai Makore the permission to use his songs during live performances.
According to Makore, Mapfumo gave him the go-ahead to use his compositions during live performances as a way of safeguarding his legacy.
“I was given the permission to use Thomas Mapfumo’s songs during my live performances. Using his songs gives me the opportunity to produce my own music at my own pace,” he said.
Makore said he is spoilt for choice considering Mapfumo rich discography.
Accordingly, the musician is not in a hurry to come up with a new album.
“Like I said earlier on, I am not in a hurry to record new songs. We are currently in the studio working on a new single,” he said.
