THE Zimbabwe International Film and Festival Trust (ZIFFT) says support from Government and the private sector will help improve standards in the local film industry.

This comes as the Zimbabwe International Film Festival (ZIFF) roars back to life this year, after a two-year hiatus.

The festival is the flagship event of the ZIFFT. It provides a platform for filmmakers to showcase their talent by showcasing feature films, documentary films and short films.

Said ZIFFT founder and executive director, Mr Nigel Munyati:

“We are looking forward to getting support from both Government and the private sector, as we push the agenda of improving standards of local films, which promote our cultural values and help in maintaining our identity, heritage and history.”

Telco Zimbabwe business development manager, Ms Dumisani Nkala, said developing local content is vital.

“We really should be trying to push our young people towards content that is locally generated because that is what really creates strong identity among us, not only strong identity but strong national pride.”
