Zimbabwe’s senior men’s rugby team are expected to return to competitive action next month when they take part in a four-team tournament featuring Kenya, Brazil and Namibia.

According to Sables team manager Jason Maritz, the tournament is slated for November 12 to November 21 in Cape Town, South Africa.

It is set to kick-start Zimbabwe’s preparations for next year’s Rugby Africa Cup finals.

“The Sables will be taking part in a quadrangular tournament in Stellenbosch, scheduled for November 12-21,” said Maritz.

“The four nations taking part in the tournament are Namibia, Kenya, Brazil and Zimbabwe.

“We are also looking to have a game on November 6 as preparations for the tournament, with camp starting November 1 in Stellenbosch.

“The squad will be announced in due course.”

According to the tournament schedule, Zimbabwe will take on Brazil, while Kenya clash with Namibia.

The winners will meet in the final, while the losers will square-off for the third-place play-off.

For the African nations, the tournament will serve as a dress rehearsal for next year’s Rugby Africa Cup tournament, which will be held in France, and serves as the last qualifying round for the 2023 Rugby World Cup

The winner gets automatic qualification, while the runners-up will join the Repechage tournament, which offers the final opportunity to qualify.

Zimbabwe will face Ivory Coast in the Africa Cup quarter-finals.

The other teams in the last eight are Namibia, Senegal, Uganda, Burkina Faso, Algeria and Kenya.
