Victoria Falls will come alive tomorrow as thousands of people are set to inject new energy into the resort town, which plays host to the Vic Falls Carnival.

The event, which kicks off on Friday and will run up to the wee hours of Monday morning, promises to be an explosive affair if the current hype is anything to go by.

With the likes of DJ Maphorisa, Kabza De Small, Master KG, Nutty O, Gemma Griffiths, Sha Sha, Djembe Monks and Boity, to name just a few artistes set to perform, it is no surprise that the ‘chatter’ about the event has been growing louder by the day.

Organisers have indicated that ticket sales have gone through the roof, with some of the packages already sold out.

Tickets that are still available have almost run out with just a few hours to go before the music starts playing.

“We are in final preparations for this year’s 10th edition and festival fans are in for a treat at our new venue,” said festival director Craig Bright in an interview with The Sunday Mail.

“We have seen record numbers in ticket sales, with VVIP tickets sold out as well as the BT Signature and Kuva Sunset Cruises sold out too. There are still limited general access and VIP full weekend passes available.”

Victoria Falls locals are able to buy discounted tickets at Pariah State, which are going for US$30 for a day pass, with the three-day pass going for US$65.

While the main concerts will be taking place at the carnival’s new home, the scenic Elephant Hills Resort, there are several other side events for VIP and VVIP ticket holders.

Those who forked out the big bucks for the VVIP tickets will experience performances from DJ Maphorisa, Kabza De Small, Nutty O, Gemma Griffiths and Boity on the two sunset cruises set for Friday and Saturday.

There will also be a VIP All-White Pool Party at the Elephant Hills where various guest DJs are set to perform on Saturday afternoon.

The other exciting event that has also drawn attention is the Kunye Event, which will be held on Sunday afternoon at the Lookout Café.

Those without VIP and VVIP passes will have to fork out US$50 to access this particular gig, where DJ Shimza and Co will be playing.

Meanwhile, tourism industry players in Victoria Falls are set to smile all the way to the bank when the dust settles, with many hotels and lodges reporting that they are fully booked for the weekend.
