THE National Social Security Authority (NSSA) director for occupational health, Dr Charles Shava, will continue in his position as the authority’s acting general manager after the NSSA board rescinded its earlier decision to appoint Ms Agnes Masiiwa to the position.

Dr Shava assumed the position after the suspension of Mr Arthur Manase to pave way for an audit following allegations of corruption at the authority.

Having acted for six months, Dr Shava was due to vacate the post for Ms Masiiwa on a rotational basis.

However, in a statement, NSSA board chairperson Dr Percy Toriro said Dr Shava will now continue in acting capacity having considered the need for the incumbent to oversee the conclusion of the audit process, which started during his tenure.

“Further to our notice indicating the intention to rotate the acting NSSA general manager position after the incumbent had acted for six months, we have been advised that the timing may not be right since the audit process is not yet complete,” reads the statement.
