AFTER a month-long sabbatical, sungura musician Alick Macheso and his Ochestra Mberikwazvo Band resume work on Friday, with a show in Kotwa, Mashonaland East province.

From Kotwa, the band will perform at Murombedzi Growth Point in Zvimba on Saturday.

Macheso last performed live on January 1 in Harare.

Since then, he retreated to his farm.

In Kotwa, he will be supported by Tryson Chimbetu, with his sons, Esau and Tatenda, being the curtain-raisers at Murombedzi.

Speaking through his manager Tich Makahamadze, Macheso said he is raring to go.

“It is my pleasure to return to the stage and do what I like the most. I am fit and raring to go,” Macheso said.

The veteran musician is in the process of fine-tuning a new album that will be launched in Harare on June 7.

He is also using the live shows to introduce his new songs to fans.

“We are currently recording the new album. Those that are going to come to our live shows will have the opportunity to sample the new songs,” he said.
