ZIMBABWE has become a hub of diverse sound with the rise of new musicians.

Nyasha Mutonhori, an upcoming gospel artiste from Kambuzuma is one of the latest talents to grace the gospel music scene with her emotionally soothing worship singles.

Discovered by veteran producer, Macdonald “Macdee” Chidavaenzi, Nyasha is working on her debut nine-track album “Garai Mumoyo” which is set for release end of this month.

Macdee who doubles as Nyasha’s manager said the album is a fine piece of work extolling Jesus Christ through worship.

“We are working with more than ten new gospel music artistes and we gave each one of them a chance to record a song.

‘‘That is how we discovered that Nyasha,” said the Eternity studio boss.

Nyasha recently released her single “Garai Mumoyo” and the song has already become a favourite for gospel music lovers, judging with the votes on Star Fm Gospel Greats.

The 20-year-old artiste, who is blessed with a powerful voice, said she is set for great things.

“Being a first born, my parents expected me to be a role model to all my siblings and I am happy that I am heading towards that direction.

“We are four in our family and being the big sister, I carry a huge responsibility of setting good examples for my siblings.

“I was raised in the Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) and I vowed not to depart from my childhood faith, I will remain in AFM because their teachings have brought me here.

“My daily prayer is that I remain humble and focused, handidi kupupurutswa nemhepo like what other young people are doing,” said Nyasha passionately.

Nyasha ventured into gospel music in 2011, singing in churches.

“Ever since my parents realised that I am musically talented, they have been supporting me in all spheres, physically, emotionally, financially as well as spiritually.

“I don’t think I would have been here without people like my manager, Mr Chidavaenzi.

“He also helps me in song composition, for example the song that is being played on local radio stations “Garai Mumoyo”, he helped me a lot on that.”

Nyasha says she writes her songs following her personal life experiences.

“The song “Garai Mumoyo” is a sermon and a prayer at the same time.

“I was saying Lord, I do not want to deviate from your statute and I know that with you in my heart I am safe and secure.”

“As you know we are living in a wicked world, many people, especially young ones, fall prey in many fronts. Things like peer pressure affects us but if we sincerely pray, God will help us,” preached Nyasha.

She said her aim is to get the message of God’s love to as many people as possible.

“My desire is to influence my fellow youths, especially the girls, to always do good because I have evidence that it pays to do well.”

She encouraged girls to learn to be self-sufficient.

So far, Nyasha has shared the stage with Zimpraise, Tembalami and Mpostori Wency.

Her debut album contains some exciting modern worship sounds that include “Garai Mumoyo”, “Ndawana Jesu” and “Huyai henyu Jesu”.

She also revealed that she will be releasing two videos soon.
