THE Gwayi-Shangani Lake will address Bulawayo’s perennial water challenges and create a greenbelt in the province, permanent secretary in the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Mr Nick Mangwana has said.

Writing on his Twitter handle today, Mr Mangwana said currently, 11 contractors are working on the 245 kilometre pipeline that connects the lake in Matabeleland North and Bulawayo provinces.

“The Government, through the Zimbabwe National Water Authority (Zinwa), is constructing Gwayi-Shangani lake in Matabeleland North Province.

“Upon completion, the lake with a holding capacity of 650 million cubic metres of water, will address Bulawayo’s perennial water challenges and also create a green belt in the province,” he said.
