DYNAMOS have failed to beat Highlanders in their last seven meetings.

The Harare giants limp into Barbourfields on Africa Day, very much aware that a loss could pile pressure on coach Herbert Maruwa.

DeMbare are not only winless in their last three matches, but the team has also failed to find the back of the net.

They drew against Herentals, Triangle United and Manica Diamonds.

Dynamos meet Highlanders in a rescheduled league match on Thursday, sitting in eighth position with 14 points, although they trail the Bulawayo giants by only three points.

Log leaders, Ngezi Platinum Stars, also have 17 points.

Maruwa has been urging his boys to rise to the occasion against Highlanders, perhaps buoyed because his charges usually rise from the dead when playing against arch rivals.

“We need to do more as a team to achieve what we want,” Maruwa said.

Dynamos stunned CAPS United 2-0 on match-day six, after going into that match on the back of a three-game winless run that included a shock 2-3 home loss against Bulawayo Chiefs.

On the other hand, Highlanders are beaming with confidence.

They are joint top with Ngezi Platinum Stars, and are the only team yet to taste defeat in the 2023 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.

Bosso have been a decent side under Brazilian coach Brito.

“We are confident of a win,” Brito has declared.

While Dynamos will be without influential skipper Frank Makarati, Highlanders will have the services of the experienced pair of defender, Peter Muduhwa and goalkeeper, Ariel Sibanda.

Sibanda’s second half penalty rescued Bosso against Cranborne Bullets last weekend, after the latter had taken a first half lead through Tadiwa Chibunyu from a spot kick.
