MORE than 300 underprivileged youths from marginalised communities across the country have benefitted from educational assistance through local organisation St Enock Bursary Foundation.
The bursary foundation, which operates under the Johanne Masowe yeChishanu yeNyenyedzi Nomwe Church, seeks to help youths and learners mainly from indigenous churches through paying their school fees and providing career guidance.
The foundation’s leader, Mr Herbert Senda, said the initiative was a way of helping youths realise their dreams.
“I encourage youths to be responsible and stay away from drugs. Let us embrace ‘Ubuntu’, which is the foundation of Christianity.
“We have since applied for land to build a school in Mvurwi as a way of complementing the work which is already being done by President Mnangagwa’s administration,” he said, adding that they seek to assist even more learners through this initiative.
He encouraged youths to shun early child marriages.
“We believe in empowering the girl-child, who is usually sidelined in most apostolic sects.
We want them to realise their full potential regardless of religious background.
“We believe in breaking bias that have been hindering their growth socially and financially,” he said.
