PASTOR Patience Chigumira, a Zimbabwean-born songstress based in Canada, has finally released her eagerly awaited “mini-series” titled “Makanaka”.

The music video compilation was released last week and carries four tracks — “Makanaka”, “Ancient of Days”, “You are Holy” and “My Salvation”.

Nigerian gospel singer Tobi Osho features on the song “Ancient of Days”.

The project was shot in a number of beautiful locations in Zimbabwe, Nigeria and Canada.

Minister Patience, as Chigumira is fondly known in music circles, said the video album was shot by Andy Cutta and Beenamang, while Linda Namatai was the director.

In “Makanaka”, a slow tempo song which is characterised by soothing lyrics, she sings in both Shona and English.

“My prayer is that Makanaka will hit the international scene and bring exposure to Zimbabwe and my native language. Music transcends boundaries, and nations worship and glorify God in all tongues,” Minister Patience said.

This is not the first time that she incorporated the two languages in a song.

On “My God”, another song which, however, is not on this compilation, she easily mixes the two languages.

“Ancient of Days” is a typical praise and worship song.

Nigerian Osho puts an international flair to the song and video, with breathtaking scenes being shot in the bustling Nigerian city of Lagos.

Osho himself has a mesmerising voice and a visual presence that will endear him to many gospel lovers.

Adding variety to the compilation, “You are Holy” is punctuated with powerful visual dramatisations that will certainly keep viewers glued to the screen.

The song has a jazzy feel that is underlined by a piercing classical rock guitar.

“In the videos, I will be sharing my testimonies through drama. I know that a lot of people have gone through a lot and these videos will definitely relate to many.

“The videos will minister to those that will watch them since I am sure that a lot of people are experiencing the same challenges I sang about,” said the Toronto-based pastor.

Early this year, Minister Patience’s single, “My Salvation”, was played, to critical acclaim, on a popular American Christian podcast.

She is gradually building a fan base both in Zimbabwe and abroad.
