A Murehwa man says he was delivered from the juju bondage known as “runyoka” or “rukava” last week at a service in Harare’s Warren Park suburb.

Mr Charles Mutasa (28) visited New Revelations Ministries in Warren Park with a swollen male organ after sleeping with a married woman.

“I was in a partnership with five people within my community where we took turns of giving each other money on a monthly basis,” said Mutasa. “However, when my turn to receive money had come, this woman refused to give me my money. She then offered to pay me in kind and we agreed to sleep together.”

He said after sleeping with the woman, his male organ became swollen and painful.

“It got so bad it was hard for me to urinate. Right now my stomach also hurts so badly,” said Mr Mutasa before the shocked congregation.

Church leader Prophet Miracle Paul told Mr Mutasa to throw away snuff and threads he was carrying.

Mr Mutasa said he got these items from a traditional healer he had visited in an effort to deal with his problem.

“Young man, what you are suffering from is called runyoka or rukava. The woman you slept with had some creature inserted in her reproductive system through black magic,” said Prophet Paul.

“When you had sexual intercourse with this woman, that creature entered your sexual organ while you were busy enjoying each other. You did a great thing that you came to the house of the Lord because if you had delayed a bit, that creature was going to kill you.”

Prophet Paul touched Mutasa’s stomach twice as he was praying for him and he threw up a big black caterpillar.

Annointing oil was poured on the creature and then it was thrown out.

“Unfortunately, the creature had reproduced eggs inside your body and I will need to pray for you again to break the yoke of the bondage,” said Prophet Paul.

He warned against adultery saying it separated people from God.

Sekuru Friday Chisanyu, a traditional healer and founding president of the Zimbabwe National Practitioners’ Association said runyoka was best treated by traditional medicine.

“This type of runyoka which causes a male sexual organ to get swollen can spread to the livers and the heart and can cause death if not treated.

“It is called ‘kachura’ because the traditional medicines used to create that are mixed with a frog by that name. The frog is commonly found in woodlands and if they are disturbed they grow fatter and appear as if they are swollen,” said Sekuru Chisanyu.
