Despite overwhelming evidence from the DNA tests carried out by Unistel Medical Laboratories to determine the paternity of Fortunate “Tafadzwa” Mapako’s two minor children – sungura ace Alick Macheso remains sceptical.
The question is: what does Macheso know that he is not saying?
To that we can add; what is it that has made the celebrated artiste seek three DNA tests?
Efforts to interview the “Macharangwanda” singer to get insights into what makes him so distrustful of the woman he once called his wife and even penned a song for were fruitless last week.
However, a close associate of Macheso who declined to be named shed some light on what could be making the revered bassist decide to go all out to authenticate Alick Junior and Maneesha’s paternity.
The colleague said what has been exposed in the courts and in the Press is just a tip of the iceberg — Macheso and Tafadzwa’s problems run far deeper and they started way before the birth of their second child, Maneesha. “Their problems started while Tafadzwa was still living in Ruwa,” said the source, before alleging that “by December 2013, Macheso and Tafadzwa had not been sharing a bed for over a year”.
Added the source: “The toddler, Maneesha, was born in July and Macheso who could be the father by the way, suspects that someone else may have done the job for him.
“Macheso has every reason to suspect foul play because Tafadzwa kept a lot of men around her that she claimed were either relatives or were Central Intelligence Organisation officers ‘taking care of her’.”
It is the same bogus CIOs (sic) that Mapako allegedly hired to threaten and harass Macheso.
“When Macheso tried to pull back from Tafadzwa as early as late 2012, Tafadzwa simply hired thugs who masqueraded as Central Intelligence Officers and they would threaten Macheso with unspecified career-ending action.
“Those thugs continued to extort money from Macheso while Tafadzwa was doing the same from the other side.
“Apparently, one of the bogus CIOs (sic) she used to threaten and extort money from Macheso is now under police investigation after Macheso made a report at Waterfalls Police Station.”
Claimed the source: “Those two were always at odds.
“At one point Tafadzwa smashed Macheso’s Honda CRV after a nasty fight. They would argue endlessly and sometimes even engage in physical violence.”
Macheso himself has revealed that Mapako has in the past made a number of misrepresentations of herself, ranging from claims of being a medical doctor, having close links with the First Lady, being a businesswoman and that she had no children prior to meeting acheso, among many others.
Mapako, however, is on record denying that she ever made any such claims. Efforts to get her side of the story were fruitless all week.
The drama continues to unfold and sungura fans wait with bated breath to hear what Macheso will say about what is happening behind the scenes.
