THE modern-day world, powered by technology, has opened up a wide array of career possibilities. Ordinarily, this has led to students of our generation suffering from indecision in selecting career paths.
However, a career day was hosted at Life Long College last month as a way to assist learners in making crucial decisions in their studies.
The event had been long overdue as previous efforts to host it were in vain due to equally important school events that took precedence.
The career day commenced with students assembling in one of the school halls with the master of ceremony being the deputy principal, Mr Charles Bharu.
Invited guests from the Judiciary Service Commission and the Labour Court graced the occasion.
They interacted with the students, sharing knowledge on how best to choose a career path.
For instance, learners were enlightened about the operations of the court system and how the Judiciary Service Commission became an independent institution since 2012, after having been directly under Government before then.
There was also a session focusing on careers linked to law-making and enforcement.
The address covered a personal account of how an official chose his career in the legal sector.
Students also had the opportunity to ask questions while they also got an appreciation of how it feels to work under the country’s Judiciary system.
Furthermore, there were highlights on the various professions one can pursue if they study law.
With such a rich and interactive session, it was a day well spent that helped students contemplate possible career choices.
