Each disease requires a unique prescription and physicians will always give you certain instructions to follow for you to fully recover.

This is the same with Covid-19.

The earlier we adhere to prescribed preventative measures the safer we are.

If you are safe, then the next person is also safe.

In saving yourself, you curtail the spread of the pandemic and, therefore, save the world.

Let us continue staying at home.

And as we are home, let us not forget to pray to the Almighty to heal the whole world.

Staying at home helps since it is the only way that we can steer clear from Covid-19 or the coronavirus.

There are chances of spreading the virus even when one does not show symptoms.

The most common Covid-19 symptoms are fever or flu-like symptoms — runny nose, sore throat, muscle aches, cough, difficulty in breathing and fatigue.

However, it is important to note that one can develop any of the above symptoms when in actual fact they do not have the virus.

Thus, testing is always important.

For instance, an extensive study conducted in Iceland showed that 50 percent of those tested had the virus and yet they were asymptomatic (did not show any symptoms).

We also need to have positive mindset.

Yes, Covid-19 is a deadly disease but not every infected person is dying.

In fact, statistics from the World Health Organisation and the worldometer on coronavirus show that the number of people that have recovered from the virus is much higher than those that have succumbed.

In short, testing positive of coronavirus is not a death sentence.

Proverbs 18:21 says: “Life and death are in the power of the tongue . . .”

If you declare that you will live, then you will live. You are likely to live for many more years even after testing positive.

It is important to control your thoughts when you are sick since this has a bearing on your recovery.

You can dig your own grave by thinking of death and you can also help your body fight to total recovery by thinking positively.

Likewise, if one has an underlying health condition, they need to take more precaution.

The elderly are most vulnerable; worse still, when they have conditions like asthma, diabetes, lung disease or heart conditions.

The virus can be more brutal on them.

Whenever there is crucial need for you to go out, those moments when you do not have a choice, please take necessary precautions so that you protect yourself, your family and others.

Social distancing, gloves, masks and hand sanitisers can assist in this regard.

Gloves protect you especially when you get into contact with surfaces which may contain the virus.

Studies show that the Covid-19 virus could still be detected on copper for up to four hours, on cardboard for up to 24 hours, and on plastic and steel for up to 72 hours.

Face masks are highly recommended since they protect those around you from your sneeze and cough.

Face masks must be worn, except by children below the age of two or by someone who has difficulty in breathing, including anyone incapacitated such that they cannot remove the mask without assistance.

Please protect yourself and let us save one another from contracting the disease by using the prescribed safety and protective gear.

However, face masks and gloves are not a substitute for social distancing.

Stay at home and do not forget to pray to the Creator of the universe for healing.

In parting, let us remember Covid-19 has proven to us that world boundaries are “artificial”.

One can be infected or affected regardless of location.

The plague started in Asia but has affected almost all parts of the globe — Africa included.

This means no nation should consider itself superior than another.

We must learn to be interdependent.

Quote of the week: Proverbs 18:21 “Life and death are in the power of the tongue …” if you say you will live, then you will live.
