IT appears socialite and comedienne Mai TT has a penchant for picking up fights, particularly attacking other social media personalities with reckless abandon.
Mai TT, real name Felistas Murata is synonymous with controversy.
She is seemingly ready to go to extreme lengths for mileage.
At any given moment, she is either having a cat-fight with fellow socialites, celebrities, social media followers or busy making shocking revelations about her private life.
A few days back, she went into an outburst after she was annoyed by her husband Tinashe Maphosa’s conduct on social media. Maphosa was terribly dressed down.
But it was the timing that most people questioned. Could this have been a marketing gimmick? The unfortunate public outburst happened just a few days before she hosted her highly successful business shower, which ran under the theme “Shanda Mukadzi Shanda”.
The event attracted a number of businesswomen, among them Karin Evans Coric, the president of Top Model Zimbabwe and socialite Zodwa Mkandla.
At the start of the week, Mai TT also announced that she pocketed US$5000 when she struck a deal with ZBC, which bought rights to air her wedding.
Mai TT now has over a million followers on social media. However, she has gained traction mainly through bastardising fellow socialites.
In the recent outburst, she attacked Olinda Chapel, bombarding her with a litany of accusations. With over 12 000 followers in tow on her live broadcast, Mai TT went into a tirade as she pummelled Chapel.
She said some unprintable words about Chapel and equally accused her of being a cougar. “Just take a look at her boyfriend Tytan. He is very young and she is not ashamed to go to bed with such a young man. To me, Tytan is like her son and it is not morally right for Olinda (Chapel) to take him as her husband,” fumed Mai TT.
Tyra “Madam Boss” Chikocho was not spared! What is disturbing though is the fact that she always comes forward apologising after every episode. Certainly, her apologies seem not sincere as she repeats the same wrong(s) one too many times. But she has defence for her tirades and uncouth behaviour.
“If you take a closer look at what happened with Olinda (Chapel), you will notice that I was provoked. She alleged that my husband had at one time proposed love to her. I was only responding to her allegation. I am a victim of cyberbullying,” Mai TT said in an interview with The Sunday Mail.
Mai TT also said she does not seek attention through social media feuds with other socialites. “I have much more followers than many socialites here in Zimbabwe. Why should I collide with them to get more followers on social media? Instead they want to gain more ground on social media through my name and insulting me,” alleged Mai TT.
Mai TT also said that she cannot keep quiet whenever she is insulted.
“I cannot just shut my mouth when someone annoys me. I’m also human and have feelings. Many people always think that I’m always at war on social media when I respond to my haters,” she added.
She further adds that she has an “inability to control her temper”.
Really?
Other characters that have fallen victim to Mai TT’s acid tongue include Tatelicious, Dr Farai Mtisi and Zuva Habane.
Her sometimes unwarranted attacks have led many to conclude that the comedienne-cum-singer is a perennial attention- seeker who, sadly, is doing so by unfairly vilifying her colleagues.
Her social media pages have gained traction with more followers and subscribers taking an active interest in her exposés.
According to Mai TT, she recently attacked Madam Boss because she ‘started gossiping’ about her after she did not invite her to her wedding. “Madam Boss is a gossiper and pretends to be a Christian. She cheated on her husband with several men,” Mai TT alleged during the live blogging session.
In February, she came blazing, attacking Dr Mtisi for supposedly being Madam Boss’s close friend. “I don’t play with Fungai Mtisi. Who is Fungai Mtisi anyway? She has a ghost account (name withheld). That I know. She doesn’t like me I know that. She is jealous of my lifestyle,” charged Mai TT.
Dr Mtisi simply dismissed her as a misguided and jealous character.
Tatelicious was not spared.
“Let me be clear to Tatelicious. She is failing to control her hormones and the pills and the body-enhancing pills that she takes are making her crazy,” said Mai TT as she attacked Tatelicious, a controversial transgender.
Zuva Habane, a South African-based Zimbabwean socialite and businesswoman, has also been a recipient of her jibes.
“Zuva doesn’t have any property and if she dies, her children and siblings will not inherit anything. All she has are cosmetic kits,” ranted Mai TT.
