THE unique hair extravaganza has returned on the fashion calendar following a “strategic” hiatus.

According to organisers, a search for talented hairdressers will begin end of this month with the finals scheduled to take place in December at Cresta Lodge, Harare. The show will be hosted by Eva Hair Products and will be a platform for hairdressers to showcase their talent and creativity in producing the best and unique hairstyle.

Eva media and communications executive Respect Chofamba said the hair show took a break after the first edition to allow for a smooth rebranding process.

“The hair competition returns end of September. Eva is a local synthetic hair producer, which was previously known as Outre.

“We rebranded in a bid to meet and express the need and style of local women,” she said.

Eva offers a wide range of synthetic hair that hairstylists will use during the competition in their quest for the best hair doctor title. Chofamba said finalists will be selected from all the country’s provinces. Some of the events will be broadcast on television.

The hairstyling competition is open to all hairdressers and to take part one needs to fill in a participation form, which is available at Eva stores. The competition is aimed at encouraging women in the hairdressing industry to grow their businesses, at the same time exposing them to international markets.

“Our promise this year is to unmask hidden skills and talents in local hairdressers as we celebrate the hard work they put in making all women look good,” said Chofamba.

“The prizes for the competition range from US$2 000, US$1 000 and US$500 as well as Eva hampers that will make the winners’ hairstyling journey easier and more exciting.”
