YOUR ability to achieve anything in this world is enhanced by your level of gratitude in life.

No matter how great you are, no matter how smart, no matter how rich and no matter who your name is, you cannot achieve anything without help from the people you meet in life.

Your abilities alone are insufficient to see you through.

It is, therefore, important that you give regard and due respect to the relationships you have, because you depend on them.

Our livelihoods and emotional well-being hinge on the relationships we have.

Whether you are a boss or you are rich, you will still part with your money in order to enjoy people’s company.

If you think wealth is all you need, think again!

Wealth is nothing when you do not have people around to enjoy your riches.

This brings us to the subject of gratitude.

In gratitude lies the secret to happiness and fulfilment. It is also crucial in maintaining relationships.

Gratitude is being thankful and appreciative from the heart.

We must always appreciate even the smallest things that bring us joy and good experiences in everyday life.

Surely, it cannot be true that everything is wrong around you.

Pessimism is a disease.

Why is it you are always blaming others for your misfortune?

This is certainly because of the way you perceive life.

For a change, shift from focusing on wrong things to seeing and appreciating every good and right thing in your life. Bitter people are so corrosive to be around.

The more gratitude is practised, the more it invites good things. God happens to keep pouring graces upon our grateful hearts until we are abundantly blessed.

Lack of faith translates to disbelief but its presence translates to gratitude.

Do not wait until you have more for you to be grateful; begin now to show gratitude for the little that you have. Helping others and giving praise are some of the common ways to show gratitude

The moment you see good people leaving your space, the same is happening with material things.

I will conclude with an allegory of a certain businessman who was very rich.

However, his wealth progressively vanished until he became poor.

He ran into legal challenges since he owed lots of people, including his workers, money.

He then prayed to God for help.

At that very moment, he saw an advert by a loan shark. The loan shark’s office was located at the topmost floor of a high-rise building.

The businessman had decided to borrow money to clear his debts. On his way out of that loan shark’s office, he thought of climbing up the roof of the skyscraper to grab some fresh air.

Unfortunately, the door closed right behind him and he had no way of opening it from outside. He shouted for help, but no one heard him.

He then tried throwing money down hoping to draw people’s attention.

People just picked the money with happy faces but did not bother to check where it was coming from. He threw all the money he had borrowed until he was left with nothing.

He was frustrated!

He began throwing gravel down to them.

The people he struck with the gravel would get angry, look up and curse him.

He continued to throw gravel until some people got him arrested.

The man narrated to the police how he failed to attract people’s attention by using money but only managed to do so by throwing gravel.

As he was narrating to the police, he began to cry.

It then dawned on him that this is exactly how he managed his relationship with God.

When things were going on well, he never looked up to God to say “thank you”, but when misfortune struck, that is when he looked up to him.

Gratitude is an essential relationship strengthening emotion.

Quote of the Week: The more grateful we are, the more goodness we draw to ourselves.
