APART from bankrolling Zimbabwe’s football champions, FC Platinum Holdings is also involved in a number of activities within the Midlands, a company official revealed.

Media officer Ms Chido Chizondo (pictured right), who spoke about the electric atmosphere currently prevailing in Zvishavane, also took time to explain the sponsorship structure for FC Platinum who won a third straight Premier Soccer League title last weekend.

“Three times in a row, who would have thought about it? This is stuff for fiction movies,” said Ms. Chizondo.

According to Ms Chizondo, FC Platinum Holdings are the sponsors of FC Platinum and the organisation is also into other various sporting activities in and around Zvishavane.

“FC Platinum Holdings has been self-sustainable since 2014. Mimosa when they started this project, it was a corporate social responsibility initiative but they had to focus on their main line of business which is mining so they had to wean off the club.

“We now have FC Platinum Holdings which also has a labour broking department, it is also into village management and is also in charge of stadium maintenance.

“That is why we have been able to remain vibrant,” she said.

“Our mandate as FC Platinum Holdings is to support any sporting initiative within the Midlands. We reach out to annual golf days and we have a netball team Platinum Queens which is actually in the RANL League.

“We are actually second, which is a huge achievement, given that we only joined the league in 2014. For us I think we are growing, we are also into community football development in Mazvihwa, Mberengwa and other surrounding areas.

“We also host an annual sports day here at Mandava.”

FC Platinum Holdings also supports junior football development.

“We have got an under 19 team that plays in the Division One league, we also have a junior academy that is based at Guinea Fowl, we take in talented young footballers on scholarship.”
