Dead dogs used to produce chicken feed

The Sunday Mail

gardener employed by a Briton who was recently found keeping dead dogs at his Meanwood Ibex residence in Lusaka, Zambia, has made a shocking revelation.

Jeff Kamanga (25) told the media that the carcasses are meant to produce maggots that are later fed to chickens.

Kamanga — the only employee of 50-year-old Jibodu Babatunde Olukayode — could, however, not state what kind of chickens they were, except to say a “variety”.

The gardener, who has been working for Olukayode, a Briton of Nigerian descent, for close to a year now, said his boss has been buying black African flies, which he keeps in bulk to lay eggs.

They later harvest maggots.

Kamanga said his boss was advised to always keep a dead animal inside the room where he was breeding maggots to ensure rapid multiplication of worms from the parent flies. — Wires

Death threat over

poor cooking skills

A 38-year-old man from Bulawayo has been fined $9 000 for threatening to kill his wife over undercooked isitshwala/sadza.

True to the “hungry man is an angry man” adage, Mncedisi Khumalo threatened to wipe his wife — Saneliso Ncube (26) — off the face of the earth as he found the food unpalatable.

It was a sight to behold as the grown man roared his disapproval of the food.

Khumalo appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Shepherd Mjanja facing “making a threat” charges as defined in Section 186 of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act Chapter 9:23.

He pleaded guilty and was fined $9 000 or 30 days imprisonment.

Khumalo told the court that he threatened to kill his wife out of anger.

He, however, said he was only joking.

It is the State’s case that on January 22, 2023, around 8pm, Khumalo’s wife was home with her family when their domestic helper served them food.

Khumalo was not pleased with the isitshwala/sadza and hurled insults at the maid.

Ncube intervened and this further incensed Khumalo. He threatened to kill his wife.

No amount of reasoning could calm him down. Khumalo left the house in a huff and called Ncube’s grandmother, vowing that he would kill his wife.Ncube reported the matter to the police, leading to her husband’s arrest.

Shocking sodomy attack

The life of a 30-year-old man from Cement Siding in Bulawayo was turned upside down after four men with whom he was travelling in a car took him into a bushy area and allegedly sexually assaulted him.

The victim cannot be named for ethical reasons.

A source close to the incident said the victim boarded a Toyota Wish at the corner of Harare Road and Samuel Parirenyatwa Street intending to go to Cement Siding.

“When he got in, he noticed that the car, which had tinted windows, had four male occupants and he sat in the back seat.

“The driver drove off along the road heading to Cement Siding,” the source said.

“When they reached Umguza River, the driver turned left and parked the car near a bushy area before ordering the victim to disembark.

“They walked him into the bush, where they allegedly took turns to sexually assault him and left him lying on the ground.”

After about 30 minutes, the victim went to report the matter at the Cement Siding Police Base.

Bulawayo police spokesperson, Inspector Abednico Ncube, confirmed the incident.

“We are appealing for information that may lead to the arrest of the four suspects, who are wanted for allegedly sexually attacking a 30-year-old man.

“Anyone with information may contact any nearest police station or call us on 02960358.” — B-Metro.
