HARARE-based inter-denominational choir, Heavenly Praises Chorus, recently hosted a fundraising musical festival at the Apostolic Faith Mission Highfield Assembly in Harare to source money to fund its activities.

The event was attended by Harare Prisons Choir, who gave an emotional performance. Reverend Isaac Silumbu encouraged Christians to make a difference in their communities by giving to the needy.

The Heavenly Praises Chorus performed popular gospel songs such as “Ngatimukudzei Mwari”, “Tichamuona”, and “Modimo Aliteng” among others.

Other churches that participated at the choir festival included the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe, the Reformed Church in Zimbabwe and the Apostolic Faith Mission in Zimbabwe.

The event also featured a group of poets, led by the 2015 Star Brite winner Luckmore Magaya. It was a touching experience when members of Heavenly praises Chorus presented the Prison Choir members with food and toiletries.

Heavenly Praise Choir, with 80 members, was formed in 2012 with young people who had passion to praise God through song. In 2013, the choir qualified to participate in the Old Mutual National Choral Festival in South Africa and they are still representing the country at that stage.
