BOXING’S man of the moment Tinashe “Chairman” Madziwane, who is billed to fight in the New Dawn tournament scheduled for this Friday at the City Sports Centre, sought “divine assistance” from Walter Magaya last Sunday.

Bantamweight star Madziwane will fight Aubrey Masamba of Malawi in the undercard to the main bout that will see Zimbabwean heavyweight champion Elvis Moyo defending his WBF All-Africa title against Knife Didier of DR Congo.

The event is part of the Friday Night Pan African Boxing series and will be hosted by South African boxing promoters Kalakoda and Kwese Sports, in collaboration with local stable Delta Force.

“I owe my rise to the Almighty, so I have to leave everything in the hands of God. That’s the reason why I went to seek divine assistance from Prophet Magaya at his church last Sunday,” said Madziwane.

The Mbare-bred boxer won a Toyota Hiace and $2 000 cash after beating Richard Kachidza of Malawi in an international bout held at Stodart Hall in Mbare last month.

The other bout on the fight card will feature South African based Zimbabwean boxer Tapiwa ‘’Finnix’’ Tembo who will be hoping to wrap the first belt around his waist when he challenges Swedi Mohamed of Tanzania for the vacant WBF Africa bantamweight title.

In the other fights, female boxing pioneer Monalisa Sibanda emerges from a long sabbatical for a date with Eneresi Nkahwanthi of Malawi while Thembani Mhlanga squares up against Enock Msambudzi in a middleweight non-title bout.

Last Friday, Clyde Musonda of Delta Force told the media everything was in order after his stable got a $1 800 sponsorship package from a local company, Smartvest Wealth Managers.

“We are also inviting renowned regional promoters to attend this boxing show. The likes of Nester Tobias of Namibia, Chris Malunga of Zambia and Antony Mwamba will be in Harare for the fight night,” said Musonda.
